Michelle, dblakers is obviously not a very happy camper , but I'll address one important fact he seemed to skate over in his diatribe on this thread. Yes, as he points out the vaccine does not prevent you from contracting the virus....but it does prevent you from dying from it. Hope you had a great Christmas, and have a great New Year ahead.

Not sure how we got from proving that vaccines do treat viruses to JFK. Too much Christmas punch last night? Looking forward to the debunking of the moon landing later today. For anyone interested here are the 5 million pages from the National Archives on Kennedy. Latest documents released on 12/15. Warren Commission, House Select Committee, Assassination Review Board and Autopsy Report. www.archives.gov/research/jfk

Dbl can say how he thinks imo. Interesting……. Wife and I are triple vaxxed, and we are dealining with our 3x vaxxed pet/home-sitter hospitalized with pneumonia/Covid and just home from long serious illness and still not well.
A vaccine that we need 3x in less than 2 years that only rEduces serious risk….does not prevent getting or passing the virus….hmmmm And no new/improved vaccines since the prior president?
Simply appreciative of reduced risk, I guess.
Trust your government it f you choose…..I don’t Too political with everything anymore. Seems more important to act controlling and powerful than to actually do something meaningful and helpful for EVERYONE regardless of how they vote.
Learning to accept/tolerate different thinking will always be an issue…. Usually some truth in evEryone—-comfortable or not—it’s ok!

"Simply appreciative of reduced risk, I guess." Should be happy that you and the misses will be together years to come, knowing that this virus will not cut that short in any way. Peace of mind, and the fact this works(vaccine) I would think sufficient.

It is amazing to me that so many people in the world do not know what a virus is, how and why it can mutate, what a vaccine is, it's efficacy % and how they relate to each other. I wish all the forum members good health going forward, see you in Saratoga.

Scheduled for 3rd shot, being 65.
Though my body has been having fun with me anyway. Low potassium on last visit so double checking that. I already have cramps for another reason so this just compounds that and I already felt the other new symptoms. My doc seems to want to try to help but seeing a new doc and I'll have to explain the reasons my legs do what they do. Most assume MS I give a name and the response is "What's that?". Fortunately I know what and where well enough to do a presentation. The nurse with the last neurologist complimented me on what I knew.
Not liking the overlap of symptoms of low potassium .... cramping, weakness. It would help if I liked more potassium rich foods. It'll be banana everything OOOOOOO OOOO AHHHHH AHHHHHH.
I got the covid vaccine because I'd already been vaccinated for everything as a kid. Why stop? Hell I already had chicken pox when I got that shot so I had the pox and so then we add the shingles vaccine that the pox can cause. A Little pissed finding out that my first shot for that was 50/50 protection ... and so we add the new shingles vaccine which is closer to 90%.
Colonoscopy anyone? Glad to say no one is pushing that
zig on his way to medical marijuana, which i don't mind. My IQ is 139 under the influence, pissing the gf off who thought it was so bad. Kind of helps my handicapping :-)

I found out that my original shingles vaccine is a 50/50 shot so added the new one to my list of vaccines. I think it goes up to 90% effective with the new shot.

Having suffered from the brutal after effects of shingles for the last six months I would heartily recommend getting the vaccine.

Sorry to hear both Ziggy and Mr. Hendry have suffered. I am not sure what shingles are but I hear it's painful. As for MS, I was diagnosed years ago with MS Zig. I walk with a cane but not close to the wheelchair yet.

Mrs. Mac and I got jab #3 today. NYRA boy got his a couple of weeks ago.
Winnipeg is under a natural lockdown. Snowed everyday since Christmas changing to clear and minus 30C starting tomorrow for the foreseeable future.
Also got our new 75" flat panel and sound bar installed today.
Might go back outside around March.

i am one of the no votes. dont feel it's necessary for me to risk putting the virus in me, to keep from getting it.if i take care of myself get plenty of rest, wash my hands i should be just fine. also on a side note i have been baptized the best vaccination anyone can get. if the lord decides the time for me to go to heaven, then so be it. i dont begrudge or judge anyone else for whatever personal decision they choose to make, and no one else should do the same.
good fortune to all.

Couldn't agree more. Always like to put the information out there, and everyone can make the choice that they feel comfortable with.

Jan 29 th. I am now a statistic!
I had 2 shots..,booster shot..,annual flu shot and now in my 5th day of being positive for Covid. I live in Florida and wear a mask where appropriate. I do this as I am a senior and always try to be pro-active about my health.
My Covid feels like a bad head cold .. no fever…and I attribute the “mildness” of it as a result of my shots!
We all have choices.. my choice may have protected me from a worse experience.. so far so good. Jack

I am glad to hear that Jack. Your two shots plus booster may have protected you from a worse experience or if you currently have the omicron variant, it may not have. Unlikely that you will ever know. The symptoms you are describing are what the vast majority of unvaxed and vaxed people have experienced.
I am double vaxed, but for now do not intend to get the first booster (or boosters 4, 5, 5, 6, 7......).My decision is subject to change. All any of us can do is try to stay as informed as possible which is difficult to do given the paucity of objective sources out there.
I did just get an updated pneumonia shot as my last one was in 2013, and I am reasonably persuaded that the new one may afford additional protection and last for years. The pneumonia vaccine is a more traditional vaccine as compared to the Covid shots which would not have met the traditional definitions of a vaccine (which definitions were changed last year so that it could be accurately called a "vaccine.").

For me at this point,(a year has pasted) the whole subject(of vaccines) is a non- discussion. We've all had enough time and information out there to come to a personal decision. We just will accept or regret the outcome. Simple as that. Hopefully our decisions turn out well. (and isn't that the case with all decisions we make)
The free covid tests available thru the link above can help those who feel unwell to find out sooner then later if they have contracted covid, and can treat it (and prevent others around them)before it gets out of hand.
No easier decision then to get one for free, if not for you, then maybe for someone you care about.
