Best part of the story. Appears the olive branch didn't work.
“Today’s dismissal of appeal does not change the current suspension or deadline to transfer horses for the upcoming 150th Kentucky Derby.” Baffert would have to transfer any of his current horses to another trainer by Jan. 29 if he wants them to run in this year’s Derby.

I don't like the guy, but I do not like the prestige and rigors that come with the Kentucky Derby even more. Such a fabricated prestige event. So I'm quite amused that Bob has essentially said the KD isn't the end all, be all of racing, giving a big FU to Churchill downs and is not transferring his horses. I wish other trainers would not push their hoses to try and make it to the gate.

"None of Bob Baffert's colts were transferred to other trainers ahead of a Jan. 29 deadline and so remain ineligible for Kentucky Derby. "It's out of my hands," Baffert told John Cherwa for a report in the Los Angeles Times. "I just want what's best for the game."
He didn't say "I want what's best for my horses."
Instead he called it "The game".

Baffert will just flood all the KY Derby preps with 4 horses, keeping others out of the gate.
Then he has no choice but to hold out for the Preakness and Belmont.
I didn't play the TC races many years, and probably won't this year. There is a number of reasons for that, but one is that it is an utter chaos race. I do enjoy finding one or two to root for though. I don't play prep races on tracks I don't play a lot anyway, as I don't like playing darts with my money.
I've gotten the ones at Oaklawn pretty well though like when I had Un Ojo to win the Rebel which I had posted here before the race. The Lukas one-two punch big paying exacta with Will Take Charge and Oxbow helped me win a contest in 2013. Had Confidence Game last year, but I don't get them right every year. (like Long Range Toddy).
I just stay in my lane.

i beg to differ bb is doing what his owners want him to do enter in and win big races i could go on butt why? I respect that we are of differing opinions on this, and have always just accepted it. FWIW, I have little respect for Baffert. And not much more than that, for his owners, by extension, either. People's opinion on stuff doesn't affect my relationships with them. My friends circle is wide and very varied, which keeps us all balanced. I just am grateful to always feel free to express my true opinion on stuff, without retribution. There is no expectation on my part to be "agreed with".

Rumblings to that effect…..
If it happens, the credit in my mind would go to the owners for sticking with BB and sending a message to CD. Would think if happens would before next week and the Rebel but certainly prior to 3/3 schedule of races?

Lawsuit back on. LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The owner of Arkansas Derby winner Muth has sued Churchill Downs Inc. and is seeking a temporary injunction against what it called the track's "illegal" ban of Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert that keeps the colt he trained from competing in next month's 150th Kentucky Derby. www.espn.com/horse-racing/story/_/id/39868189/owner-bob-baffert-trained-muth-sues-churchill-downsZedan Racing Stables is represented in this matter by a team led by John Quinn of the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP and local counsel at Wicker Brammell.

They knew the rules... everyone was aware of the deadline to change trainers... what a load of crap! Lawsuits were always the plan. It's f---ing ridiculous. There's a particular ilk clogging the courts these days.

It is embarrassing. These drama queens need their own Reality T.V. show. For myself, the constant lawsuits have the effect of taking the spotlight off the horses, which is my main interest, and the baffert and company soap opera had gone on for way too long now.

I see a case of “absolute immunity” here. The horse can claim his owner as a dumbass.

Churchill Downs not holding back 😜
We are pleased with the court’s decision today and believe Mr. Zedan may suffer from a case of Derby fever, which is known to spread with exposure to horses and is contagious this time of year,” CDI said in a written statement Thursday afternoon. “Symptoms can contribute to questionable judgment and in extreme cases can result in litigious behavior. There is no known cure. Nevertheless, we have communicated clearly about the rules of entry, which are the same for everyone and are non-negotiable. Contenders cannot sue their way into the Kentucky Derby. We wish Mr. Zedan well in the future and appreciate both his passion for the sport and his desire to see his horses compete on the first Saturday in May.”

CDI might want that one back. When I first saw it posted I assumed it was from a parody account but when several reputable journalists posted it I had to believe it 😳

CDI could be mighty embarrassed about that post if this matter were somehow overturned by the emergency appeal that Zedan is going to file.
