Expecting Al Riffa to run a big one at some point this year, maybe he can get second. Giving Troy 10 pounds takes win out of play. AOB running a rabbit. Coral Distaff looks to be a good betting race.

SAN R4- 1m Distaff (Listed Race) (Fillies) (Class 1) (3yo)
#4- Indelible (8-1) looks very progressive and is taken to upset. #6- Soprano (7-2) won nicely at Royal Ascot, might prefer firmer ground.
EX- 4,6/2,4,5,6 WIN- 4

SAN R5- 1m2f (1m1f209y) Eclipse (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)
Not going to oppose #4- City Of Troy (1-5) here, but will use #5- Dancing Gemini (9-1) underneath with #8- See The Fire (11-1), a Sea The Stars filly getting 13lbs from elders stretching out to a better distance today off a decent effort in the Coronation S. (GI) at Royal Ascot. Might make a few bucks.
TRI- 4/5,8/ALL

Well, he won, but that was hardly a dominant performance at all by City Of Troy. Drifted to his right late, closing the rail to Ghostwriter but that one wasn't gaining on him, unlike Al Riffa which was probably scaring the crap out of Ryan Moore. Not a high energy performance. x.com/RacingTV/status/1809598109875401110TW

Al Riffa not changing leads late cost him more than the 10 pounds I think. He's got a big win in him somewhere this year.. The lads can't be happy with that win. Waiting to hear the spin. Juddmonte Internationl during Travers week next?

Seems like they are giving COT a chance to do some different and/or new experiences. Which is a good education.
... and from the outside I can't really tell what COT is getting out of it since I am not him, nor do I get to be physically around him during and after, etc.
He is certainly a very nice TB though, hard not to like.
Thanks for posting the race.

TDN.
City Of Troy (Justify) posted the lowest performance rating of any Coral-Eclipse winner this century, Timeform revealed on Monday. The previous lowest in the Eclipse this century was in 2010 when Twice Over (GB) clocked a bare figure of 122, but City Of Troy was handed a performance rating of only 120 after he made hard work of fending off Al Riffa (Fr) (Wootton Bassett {GB}) and Ghostwriter (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) at Sandown.

Too much expectation of what this horse could/should be able to do. I say let him race and judge him afterwards.
“It wasn’t what we were expecting to be honest and we’re not making excuses; you don’t need to when the horse wins the race. But a quarter of the field was taken out because of the ground and he really is a good-moving horse. It’s quite extraordinary how this horse moves.
“There is no point us talking about this horse any more. We only look foolish and after the 2000 Guineas we were really in the mess,” said the Coolmore supremo before putting it up to his star in earthy terms.
“This horse now has to do it himself. It’s like his clothes are off and he’s in the bed, it’s up to him. The year is long, and we would just like to see him run on his ground. He’s only been beaten once in his life and we’re here complaining, so that will tell you what we think of him,” he added.
