This was fascinating as well. Called Riders of Arabia, it's about the Khor Aladed Riding School, smack in the middle of the Mesieed Desert., and "home to 20 purebred Arabian endurance racers, finely-tuned horses who are synonymous with the desert as rolling dunes." I could see the sand, the dust, endless miles and miles of sand. The Bedoin nomads of the region started breeding more than 4,500 years ago. "Their incredible stamina and exquisite bone structure made them legendary." The interview included a 28 year old female from Spain, who thinks nothing of 8 hours in the saddle, as it appears she favors a certain level of familiarity with her horse and "the prolonged contact is what drew her to the sport." I think it is so interesting that people choose this llfestyle... to be close to a horse. Seems like the humans would have to have legs as strong as these horses to do this kind of riding. So writer was saying he was there for end of a session, riders came back exhuasted.......the horses were not even breaking a sweat yet. Apparently the best ones come from the royal family in Qatar. One of the riders in 2011 and 2014 was rated bets in the world by IEF (Faleh Bughamaim) .It was also pointed out that that Qatar has won their fair share of l'Arc de Triomphe with TBs as well. Article closed with the head trainer quoting the Quran that : "horses were made from the wind."
