Right decision. Green, still turning his head in the work on Monday.

Mott doing right by the horse lessens my disappointment of his absence.

Mott doing right by the horse lessens my disappointment of his absence. I'm all for giving credit when its due, but it sounds more like Mott was talked out of it by O'Rourke.
“I am,” said Mott when asked if he is considering the Belmont Stakes for the Juddmonte homebred. “I don’t know if he’ll get in or not – he’s only broken his maiden
"I don't think there is a lot of appetite for the Belmont," O'Rourke said May 29. "It's a deep race. I'd prefer some baby steps."

Thanks for that info. O'Rourke sounds realistic manager to not throw this maiden into deep water, perhaps sees better opportunities ahead more fitting? There doesnt seem to be any huge benefit unless you are pretty sure your horse can win this G1, esp. for horses that haven't already been on this particular TC series trajectory already?
Honest question: How much cache is there to winning this particular shorter Belmont in terms of future stud fees ..where the real money is.
.i dont know the answer to that but even at the longer distance what does winning the Belmont as a single race do for a horse...as opposed to having won or placed in the other 2 races in this series? Seems like you'd be in for at least a 3-4 year investment to even find out if you have a star to begin with.... Then another 2.5 to 3 year stretch before first foal makes it onto a racetrack.
I realize it also has much to do with distaff side, I’ll Have Another, Mine that Bird, Affirmed, Winning Colors, Lil E Teeall from that 23-b family sure have won a lot of ky derbies, more than a lot of other female families.
I have said in past seems like we send 12f horses off to other places as there isnt much desire for 12F stallions here? How right or wrong am i about that?
