May very well have been the best in the race. Only an astute ride and excellent linebacker play stopped him from winning.

Is it necessary for a jockey to claim foul ? Did the stewards not see the horse knocked off stride ? Gutsy horse, great trainer. Japanese horse racing the real deal now.

Jockey should have lodged a complaint. Definite interference down the stretch

IMO if you factor in the start(hopped, pinched, steadied)and the mugging in the end by SL I would say he was the best. I do agree there should have been an inquiry. There was enough there for a DQ.

My picks all ran in the top 6!
The horse i disliked the most, and said so, Touching Freedom, ran last, so i feel like i got most all of the race right. Also about honor marie .
I didnt have the winner.
Forever young was like an imovable object...he wasnt gonna move over for anyone. Lol
I have several posts here where i argued in favor of T O Password if you remember and did not think he could be ignored. If belmont were 12f and he was sticking around hed be perfect
T o Saint Denis won a race on friday at very high odds. on saturday, both japanese horses were better than most of the field, which i said going in.. T O Password 5th, Forever Young 3rd. Resilience popped up a few times, thought would hit frame...close though
So my wallet lighter but im somewhat satisfied with my capping attempt
I think there are still many out there who refuse to note the great traing job on the japanese trainers and horses, unfortunately will have to adapt to the idea they came thru travel, quarantine, riders not overly familiar with surface, and beat most of our jocks, trainers. None have ever received lasix either

As for head ons everyone is watching the japanese horse jockey should probably have claimed foul, but forever young wasnt letting sierra leone bully him, and bumped him right back.
Keep in mind, the Japanese do not claim fouls. In Japan, the officials would have taken Sierra Leone down all by themselves with no one asking.
I still think sierras optimal distance is the haskell. We all suspected he would start weaving in stretch like he tends to do and many of us foresaw happening.
Right now i think forever young and t o password should return for the bc classic. T O especially was highly under rated, but both were. T O Saint Denis win, with forever youngs jockey aboard on friday, was a forshadowing of just how capable these horses and connections are.
Meanwhile wonder if repole was eating cold pasta last night for dinner.
Im happy for dell and an oaklawn horse/trainer, but the idea of goldencents with that pedigree kind of pedigree is wonky for me. A golden rail trip can help horses regardless of race though.
Almost thought Resilience was going to have the win there for a moment. As a pedigree type capper that would have made more sense to me. Double digit reines-de-course mares in that one's pedigree, elite thoroughbred thruout... but timing and position is everything....and it is what it is and this was the ky derby so we live on to fight another day.
Did any of you notice though that Mott gave Resilience his bath that morning instead of the grooms and did his leg wraps...how many trainers do you ever see doing these things? Brought tears to my eyes but after seeing his relationship with Royal Delta, i was not surprised. Will be back later when i search my external hard drive for the picture, which will mealt your hearts

Gafflione looks like he left hand whipped in too close quarters and whip got caught in FYs reins?
Really dont know why this wasnt an auto DQ?
FY ran the best race of any horse after a bad break, getting pinched, a miserable trip then getting mugged by a drifting SL....and yet ran his heart out the entire time ...so much heart and courage.
Yahagi had to be near crying? I havent looked at much post race chatter. I heard FY suffered a leg cut too?
How is getting your whip tangled in another horse's reins NOT a DQ...or at least a long review by stewards?

Maximum Security was dqed for far less, however that was Servis—Chad B no way. No inquiry? Over and done—exciting 2 days of racing with a spectacular finale
Took a stance against creek and it cost me huge in the main races Otherwise a very good wagering week—particularly friday
