Hoop - The PDF file that you posted list Entries for undercard races. R those the fields for those races, because some of them seem like very small fields.

Honor Marie was a horse I was warming up to on paper. Perhaps it is just me but I haven’t liked his gallops the last two days. I think he wants to do WAY more and I get the restraint but sometimes it can be too much. He is really cocking his head a good deal and they are keeping him so bunched up his stride appears very short, compact and choppy to me on the video. I really want to see them allow him to extend a bit over the next day or so or I am afraid when they do let him go, he’ll tear off like a bat out of hell. Granted, I am not a work out analyst at all, but I see a horse that to my eyes, could come apart.
Now, Catching Freedom is a horse that if this were next week and he were coming out of his final workout this way, I’d be over the moon to bet. He looked incredible to my eye this morning. Neck bowed, a picture of health, gliding, extending…. I hope he works well and rebounds in the same manner. I still have major concerns about the 6 weeks between the LA Derby and the race but really warming up to this guy.

Love the old school mile work. This is a sneaky horse for your exotics. Compromised by some bad post positions at Oaklawn and pattern/numbers have him competitive and moving forward. You could do worse.

After seeing the articles on Assault's training schedule/regimen (bloodhorse 2017; paulick report 2014) one would almost define lukas's as going soft on horses. LOL

Forever Young 1:19 for 6f. ? Typical work for Japanese connections? Jockey Ryusei Sakai, one of the rising stars in Japan racing, flew to Louisville, Ky., this week to be aboard UAE Derby (G2) winner Forever Young for his penultimate breeze ahead of the May 4 Kentucky Derby (G1). The work was designed to be easy at the start as he crawled through an opening quarter in :28 4/5. Set down by Sakai in the lane, Forever Young completed the final quarter in :23 3/5.

Tough to know what they were looking for this morning with the trainer still in Japan. Appeared to me they just let him open up down the lane after that 56 second first 4F.

Ignore the comments that will come with Forever Young's workouts. You will not see the same old, same old. Work pattern WILL be different. Apr 14, 2024 19:32:49 GMT -4 eye123 said: The x factor ? (I won't pay attention to the comments he'll get ( during his work outs )here pre-derby....and he will get them)

Forever Young 1:19 for 6f. ? Typical work for Japanese connections? I viewed the workout as a gallop with a blowout in the final stage. During most years when the foreign horses come here there is a lot of head scratching that not everyone does everything "the way we do it" and not cookie cutter to what clipboard Mike might be used to seeing, for instance. Which is why I'm so glad we get to watch works ourselves and come to own conclusions. I love seeing other people's ideas about what they are seeing, perceptual or otherwise. Eye123 called it earlier and has turned out to be correct.

One thing I noticed or thought I noticed in some of the earlier clips with Forever Young is that his back hooves didn't seem to be kicking up as much sand/dirt spray as some of the other horses around him.
That got me wondering what kind of shoes he is wearing.
Or, has heavier organs, or something in his hind quarters that propels him, making his rear end seem to be more like that part of him is floating over the surface more, due to having "more engine" back there?
i need to watch him a few more times although I am not a conformation/workout analyst by any means.
Any thoughts about that?

I love that so many people out in the world of horse racing are saying how FY's workout was "too slow". If that is the way John Q Public bets on Derby Day, I know I will make money.
Cuz I haven't seen anyone close as fast as Forever Young in any race, in 23.77 as he did in that work, have you?
That is how he broke track record for the UAE Derby. He could easily close against Fierceness.
IMHO, they had very clear intentions when they took him out for that work. They accomplished exactly what they wanted him to do.
He will probably sit midpack in the derby, they didnt want him to go out fast.

Really liked this work for Ky Oaks. A. Geez, ya think? Wow was this ever impressive, starting out easy going :25 and change to start, then really going late but the gallop out was very strong. I was eager to play against but this was impressive for sure.

Well I went and watched every video of Baby Godzilla that I could find today.
I watched him WALK.
His walking stride to my eye, is perfection. The way he takes his steps. He is straight, strong, perfectly built, and his breeding and conformation is as close to ideal as you could want.
This is why I always say I don't make wagers until the post parade. Because just watching races isn't the final key for me.......it's their walk, the way they hold themselves when walking, tells a lot. Baby Godzilla has it all, in spades.
Whether that means he will win or not doesn't matter. Thunder Snow was magnificent, and he did not win. I was all in on Gun Runner the year he ran, and he didn't win either.
However, what it does prove to me is that Japanese have the breeding thing DOWN PAT. Their horse is sturdy and has a beautiful carriage and breeding, in every way that I can see.
I'm a fan, for sure.
