I understand the horse works "oddly". So some will comment on that.....nothing to be concerned about if anyone likes him. (just a heads up before the comments on derby morning show )

All I gotta say is that watching the morning show today, Forever Young brightened my day.
He has an absolutely charming personality, the way he walked along the fence so close to his "fans" and his obvious affection for humans pretty much set my day up to be smashingly positive and lovely.
So I'm glad I watched. Kind, friendly and professional. The great Romantic Warrior who just won his 3rd QE2 in Hong Kong is the same way. A puppy dog in the barn...a warrior on the track. (So well named!) . And those 2 qualities are not mutually exclusive.
Win or lose, I remember how Zenyatta liked humans, so did Mine that Bird, if you remember how after the derby the trainer literally sat on a park bench with MTB and people and children were allowed to come up and pet him. Both were all business on the track, yet had this incredible kind and loving side. I always think it's a sign of intelligence in a horse.
I am really not a fan of the "holy terrors" that almost kill backside workers. I think a truly balanced and healthy mind allows that you can be both gentle/kind AND competitive, and I have seen this in animals as well in truly balanced people.

Watching all of his races I like the fact he can sit almost anywhere, then produce a run. In his first two races (JPN) he showed he didn't like the kickback but continued on well until the jockey found a lane to make the run. He finished strong past the wire each time. His races in the Saudi Derby and UAE showed his ability(speed) to get position....but watching his JPN runs are really the ones that interest me. (where I expect him to be early to mid pack in the Derby)

Wins on 5 different tracks, in 3 different countries with some really nice TGraph numbers leads to a lot to like. Having said that, if he wins, I lose.

Whathisname's strike system has a serious flaw. Failing to prep in the U.S. should be a big fat 100 mph strike. Canonero is the last Derby winner to ship straight from a foreign country. That was back in 1971. Countless others have tried and failed since. Smart money says Forever Young will be no different.

I usually agree, but the Japanese have been stepping up their game and will win the Derby eventually. This horse looks like he has a good shot. 5 wins, and good Thorograph figs point him out as a contender. I just wish he had some blowouts over the track but he seems to run on anything. Certainly not a key but he’ll be on some tickets, especially on the 2nd and 3rd slots. Steve

The Japanese will win the Derby eventually, eh? Didn't we say the same about Coolmore and Godolphin? Their *eventually" is at a quarter-century and counting. Neither has even cracked the super yet.
One (1) horse since 1875 has won the Derby w/o prepping in the U.S. That's quite a cold streak. IMO, foreign races are too slow paced and/or too uncompetitive to prepare a spring 3YO for the pedal-to-medal stampede of the Derby. There's a ferocity to American racing that shell-shocks the foreigners, seems to me. I don't see any reason to think Forever Young will be immune.

They are all still lacking that essential quality to achieve that elusive first win . Japanese runners I believe are 0-6 in the Derby which still compares favorably with Steve Asmussen and Chad Brown’s combined record of 0-32 😜
