I knew I had heard that name before, just couldn't remember, and then I just did remember that Honor Marie Warren is the teen daughter of actress Jessica Alba.

Thanks, I see that now with the names in the pedigree. If jessica alba is a betting woman, I hope she knows about this horse LOL If my daughter had that name I would certainly put a wager in on the horse, just out of superstition.
I had to laugh recalling some of the Talking Heads notes about Animal Kingdom. Which I saved, several of them, since I had him to win the Derby that year. This one was especially hilarious:
Mar 26th, 2011
10TP Spiral-G3 1-1/8m 3-1 second choice in from Gulfstream. Trailed early while the pace was strong. Rallied four wide into the stretch, ran past DECISIVE MOMENT near the 1/8 pole and drew clear. Both wins on synthetic tracks. Don't mistake him for a legit Derby contender off this win.
I had wanted to write back, remembering his not-so-humble beginnings, but after that I never totally discounted a turfy pedigree, as was the fashion back then to "never wager a horse who had raced on anything but dirt"......back in the day when anything not on dirt was like anethema: Animal Kingdom - c. 2008 Leroidesanimaux-Dalicia, by Acatenango By a champion turf horse, dam was a Group 3 winner on turf in Germany and damsire is a leading German stallion known for strong stamina. Bred for distance on grass and synthetic.

I've long thought that a horse with a bit of a "turfy" pedigree and/or turf success can do quite well on the CD dirt. Besides Animal Kingdom, Wise Dan won the Clark on dirt at CD. Barbaro of course. I think Street Sense prepped for his Derby by racing on the then polytrack surface at Keeneland. There are other examples that I can't recall off the top of my head.

Okay, solved the mystery today. I should have already known this. Because the owners live here in hot springs and also in texarkana. The the ribbles are longtime horse players, and wanted to buy some horses and get into ownership.
what are the chances??.....they find a horse where the sire is honor code and the dam is Dame Marie.
Their grandaughter is named Honor Marie.
I'll let you fill in the rest of the story.Stroke of luck or great pickin'.

I'm just thinking out loud, but what are the chances that you would set out to purchase a horse....and find one who has a sire and dam that is a combination of your grandaughter's or other family member's name?
Or am I not seeing this correctly as that is the way I saw it happening?

What I picked up from the interview was that the granddaughter’s name is Marie. (Not Honor Marie)
