Doe's anyone know why The Wine Steward was off the track for 6 months?

No injury noted, just appears they decided to give him time. Solid series of breezes at GP and more recently CD since returning to the worktab in mid-February following a 4 month break from training.

I think this may just be a prep race for The Wine Steward for the Preakness. Good timing, whether he wins or doesn't.


As far as making the KY Derby gate, the only horse in the race who don't NEED a win is Hades. I have just noticed that winners of this race seem to be more like Preakness type horses?

I think 45-50 points would be the bare "safe minimum" this year to safely make the KY Derby field. What do you guys think that points number should be?


Based on that, even a win by Encino or Liberal Arts may not do them a lot of good.
