Also Some longshot bombers for 3/29 Oaklawn to run ITM. As you can see by the odds, only if you dare R2: #7 Quincy Market (6-1) R3: #4 Cry If I Want To (6-1) R6: #3 Doublecheck (12-1) R7: #3 G T Five Hundred (10-1); #7 Infiltrator (15-1) R8: #7 Vicki Rose (6-1) will be tough to beat the chalk Barstool Babe but I will try R9: #3 OP Firecracker (10-1) R10: #6 Miwoman (30-1); #8 Broughty Ferry (20-1). Will be tough to beat the 2 chalks so use in different spots Other horses I like that aren't longshots but also not the "top chalk" in the race either: R4) #9 Mr Works (7/2) R6) #4 Speaking Loud (4-1) R10) #2 Merisol Sugar (7/2)

Temperence Hill ran 17 times as a 3yo. Seems like a good reason to get a race named after you.

IN this case, McPeek.

Also Some longshot bombers for 3/29 Oaklawn to run ITM. As you can see by the odds, only if you dare R2: #7 Quincy Market (6-1) Quincy Market gave a good account of himself, ran 2nd most of the race, dueled after the turn, and then got swarmed in the last part of the stretch. Steward's inquiry for the winner, kinda a mess of a race. He went off at 10-1 (3rd highest odds of the field so represented good value). However, RACING LUCK intervened, the winner #2 was DQed for interference with the #8, so the 2nd place horse "won", and I lucked out because he was my other Longshot, #4 Unstable Prince, (M/L 10-1) went off at 19-1 Like I always say, it's a horse race and you just can't assume the horses who look best on paper are going to win. COMPLETED:b89b8-bb495 OP #2 $2 Win/Place 4 none $4.00 $54.20 + $50.20

too bad u didn't give unstable prince a shoutout but congrats latagata He was a long long shot (19-1 told that story) and I liked Quincy Market better to step up. One had better late pace numbers and the other one had better early pace numbers. Tn these claiming races OP trainers play a lot of musical chairs claiming off each other, so you never know what a horse will do when going to a new barn (the one I chose was 1st run for a new barn). I try not to give too many bombers in each race, otherwise it looks like I'm "kitchen-sinking" it. But LUCK plays a part and this was the case for me due to the DQ on a rather preposturous longshot bomb.

Was the uber-chalk along with the #2. #2 won, and #9 ran 4th. I used Mr. Works last out 15 days ago (I posted it back then) and he did win. But not this time. Horse that ran 2nd was 18-1. Portobello Road up close in a pedigree always seem to do something at Oaklawn. (things you notice after a number of years). So I played a superfecta and threw that #6 in with the chalks because of that ( BX 2, 6, 7, 9 ) and it came in 2/6/1/9 for $286.30 so that was a close call.

R6: #3 Doublecheck (12-1) Used him last time I posted picks, so I have believed in this horse for a while. He was neck and neck with the 6/5 chalk in the stretch, but the chalk eclipsed him (barely) Ran 2nd at 11-1. Had a couple w/p/s on him so did okay. 3 .. $7.60 $5.20 Saw this one at the very last minute in the post parade, with Harry Hernandez a good longshot rider, and Kevin Martin, a good longshot trainer and decided to put a show on him right before post. It worked. COMPLETED:99ded-a11e7 OP #6 $3 Show 12 none $3.00 $29.40 + $26.40 WIsh I had played the trifecta with the chalk, my pick, and my show wager....which paid $412. (6-3-12)

Mary Lou Whitney horse #1 first time starter (Practical Joke) working bullets taking a ton of $$ in R8. FTS I wait and watch and if it's not a trainer I noted is great with FTS I just pass the races like that. Ton of money meaning 3/5 at post.........and won going away despite a slow break
Tweetster, Maybe one to watch (for sprints).
BMS is Bernardini and dam was name......Tweeterdini. arg. "Tweeterdini out of Bernardini."

Thinking that Speed Bias is a bad favorite at 3-2 w/8MTP.
Strong Tide (13-1) should run well without winning. Red Run is logical at (3-1). O P Firecracker (5-1) got bet down and could be thereabouts.
EXBOX- 3,6,13
Good luck!

I thought Classic Causeway was gonna take them gate to wire, and they would all be gassed in the stretch. And, he almost did.
He was still good in the stretch after running on the front the whole way......and got nippe at the wire by Diordoro's "stayer", Masqueparade. ( Upstart - Cry War Eagle (Any Given Saturday) I knew he was a miler/stayer but didn't think he would threaten here.....at all.
Harry Hernandez is one of my longshot jockeys though but when he rides horses I like he messes it up.
Classic Causeway showed he was the true class here though and Torres gave a great ride.
9-12-7-13 winner paid $40+
The favored #7 ran 3rd (Pratt is a thirder today it seems)
I didn't wager the race PRECISELY because of Diordoro. If he's in a race I just skip it.

EXBOX- 3,6,13 That's EXACTLY how I would have wagered the race, but added the #12 That would have been formful. You can't have a formful race with Diodoro in it though. That's just reality. Its like having a race with Peter Miller, Jabcobsen, Cox and Diordoro at OP, you'd be ripping your hair out.

Not a good bomber longshot day On the non longshots Merisol Sugar ran 3rd, Doublespeak ran 2nd.
I just like to drop a few little "gems" of angles that may help people. Like who are longshot jockeys and certain pedigree influences like Portobello Road who seem to have success at OP, as well as the races to avoid when certain trainers have an entry, etc. It's a bit different every year since they re-constitue/remix the track but the major cast of characters are often the same.
Will be more circumspect in the future.

Diodoro was provisionally suspended on March 13, but "his suspension will go into effect after his horses that have already been entered have run.....Diodoro was the leading trainer in 2023 at Oaklawn Park and is currently in second in this year's Oaklawn standings....." (Such fairness to the bettors, natch). www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/hiwu-hits-diodoro-with-provisional-suspension/

That winner was as clean as Lance Armstrong. No surprise there. I picked one of his last year for the board's claiming contest. Won his first race, was claimed and never hit the board again.
