How are we just 5 weeks away with 2 of our bigger prep races going today and I’m just a but underwhelmed at this point? Hoping today starts to get the excitement going with some impressive efforts. Forever Young winning just now in Dubai should bring some intrigue to Derby 150 for sure.

Forever Young winning just now in Dubai should bring some intrigue to Derby 150 for sure. Ran exactly to his odds. Loved it! This is the time of year ... I just remember feeling underwhelmed the year AR Derby was much later in the trail schedule and Creator jumped up and won the AR Derby. Never could figure out why his odds were so high.....it was 4 MTP and I was right outside the paddock doors, grabbed 2 friends and dragged them into the small ticket teller room there by the paddocks with 4 tellers to put $$ on him. He prepped in AR and had run fantastic, I think 3rd in the Rebel that year. It still amazes me he paid over $25 for that win. I think we will see a few "improving horses" in next few prep races. Hopefully.

Timberlake got impatient, can't really blame the jock.
Cox needs to fix that OR run in Belmont. Horse is bred for 12f and certainly doesn't need to be on the lead --- he doesn't have brilliant speed.
I don't get turning 12F type classic distance horses into this, it cost him getting at least 3rd it looked like? At any rate, this is a Belmont horse, maybe Cox will reconsider that for him. He's perfect for that distance. The KY Derby does require speed and that is not the best spot for him. I think that is why he seemed to get wobbly legged in the Rebel at the end there...he is a 12F galloper but not being run that way
I felt so bad for Liberal Arts, got such a bad trip.....I thought he had a better shot but once he had to take back so hard it was all over.
Anyway, Muth onward to the Preakness. He ran great, a gorgeous horse.......but 100 Derby points flushed

Remember, The Belmont will be run at 1 1/4 at Saratoga this year and next due to construction at Belmont so no 1 1/2 classic for this crop or the next. They will run the Derby at 1 1/4, cut back slightly to 1 3/16 for the Preakness, then back to 1 1/4 for The Belmont at Saratoga.

I think Timberlake would be better on the turf with that female family. They might have ruined Will Take It today. Those connections should know better.

They might have ruined Will Take It today. Those connections should know better. I've watched his every move since December. I was his biggest fan but not for this race of course. Obviously some don't care about developing "fans" for their horses, like they do in Japan. Japanese make celebrities out their horses .....wonderful posters and plushies for their fan favorite horses. I hope you are wrong about this though. I felt a bit sick watching the race a few times.

My case for Mystic Dan... didn't need the points. 3rd (beating Timberlake) was points enough. Lukas' runner really needed those points for second place behind Baffert's non-eligible winner. MD ran well enough as prep for the big dance first Saturday in May. I still think he's got a shot.
