Seems like a solid prep on paper with lots of directions to go. Big fan of Just a Touch but he has to show up today. Like his stablemate Bergen a bit too and think El Grande O splits them. Wish it were on a fast dry track for a better gauge of things

Haven’t been watching as have been invested in basketball. How’s it playing? I would guess wide moves getting up late? Bad thing is some of these lightly racked colts cannot scratch and wait. Might not be best in the long run but if the connections have Derby hopes, it’s now or never.

I can see they want points and will assume Dornoch wins so they are saving their horses for a race iwth bigger points....however that just puts their horses behind in fitness, and higher "days since last race". Fitness wins races. Not standing around in the barn, And now I've heard every possible excuse, whether true or false. KY Derby often comes up muddy. Heck, the AR Derby comes up muddy with the added gift of tornado watches.  I would want to see how my horse runs on slop but then again, I don't have the investment of owners, which I can also respect. But these horses NEED A RACE many of them. |

Nice win by Deterministic off the long layoff to win the Gotham. I am fine with Just A Touch out of this one as well as thought he was done with about 3/8 to go, didn’t really seem to handle the track and ran in spots. Can’t wait to see where they go next with him but outside of the top 2, I’ll pass on anything else coming out of this one on the Derby trail.

Prelim BSF here is a 93 which is same as Timberlake last weekend. Dornach an 88 in FOY and Sierra Leone a 90 in the Risen Star.
