Another fairly quiet week in Dubai, the feature is the Cape Verdi Stakes (GII) for older fillies and mares. 3yo fillies have the Cocoa Beach Stakes, a conditions race at a mile on dirt that is the local prep for the UAE Oaks in five weeks. Best betting race is probably Race 7, a Class 2 handicap at 7F on the turf, with 16 runners.
MEY R4 (10:15am ET)- 1m1½f (1m1f110y) (Handicap) (Turf) (3yo+ 65-90)

#2- Aeonian (16-1) got a pretty wide draw in PP12 but comes from off the pace so would have sat out the back anyways. Rounding into form and was only beaten six lengths by Local Dynasty in the Zabeel Turf last time. Probably won't beat them all but a must use underneath. #4- Return To Dubai (8-1) drew PP11, runs well fresh, has scope for improvement with only six career starts. Only worry is the barn, which has been very quiet. #12- One World (10-1) was a decent prospect for Juddmonte as a 3yo, a half to GIII-winner Time Lock, before being sold to Saudi interests. Inexplicably ran twice on dirt in Riyadh and at another minor Saudi venue. Now in the Seemar barn on a reclamation mission. If he retains his turf ability, he could pull the upset getting weight from many of these.

#7- Manama Gold (7-2) could not have been more impressive on debut, drawing away from the field with only pacesetter Frost At Dawn able to go with her late. #1- Frost at Dawn (5-1) drew PP10 but will most likely be sent forward by new pilot Jim Crowley, improving sort has the experience edge over Manama Gold and could turn the tables if that one regresses off the big FTS effort. #8- Mizzyaan (12-1) is a FTS, daughter of Justify out of GI-winner Vale Dori could be any kind. #10- Wild Goddess (5-2) seems too short a price for a first time dirt starter, will try to beat her.

At the prices currently on offer, I'm all over #3- Mystic Pearl (6-1 m/l) which improved noticeably last summer with a Listed win and a GIII third before going to the sidelines. Haggas doesn't send many here so presumably well-intentioned. The three Godolphin runners will all have a say, along with Stenton Glider from Hugo Palmer.
WIN- 3
MEY R7 (12:00Noon ET)- 7f (Handicap) (Turf) (3yo+ 80-105)
