MEY R1 (8:30am ET)- 5f Handicap (Turf) (3yo+ 65-90)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-01-12/858743
Must take a stand against lukewarm (bad) favorite #10- Vespasian (4-1) despite the connections, Crisfords/Buick. Not a turf horse (6/0-1-0). Figures to be a chaotic result, so I'll box a few that at least like it here at Meydan, like turf, or like 5F.
EXBOX- 2,5,6 Result: 10,8,4 Vespasian ($6.00) reversed the result of his 5F dirt race at Jebel Ali six days ago, finishing ahead of Al Shibli this time. Uninspiring group of sprinters, will not be betting any of these next out.
MEY R3 (9:40am ET)- 7f Handicap (Turf) (3yo+ 65-90)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-01-12/858745
The three Shadwell/Godolphin highweights have no current form.#4- Tiger Crusade (9-1) drew a bit wide in PP11, but his last ten races are all far better than any of the rest of these, mostly in Class 2 handicaps. Has won at 7F on AW, had an excellent prep at Kempton when a length behind Chipstead going 6F on December 20th, finishing ahead of Summerghand and Coachello. Has to prove he can handle the course. All in today.
WIN- 4 SCRATCHED
MEY R5 (10:50am ET)- 6f Al Wasl Stakes (Turf) (3yo)

Not sure which side the early speed will come from, so playing somewhat of a hedge with favored #1- Starlust (7-5) which is drawn in PP13, and #9- Seven Questions (9-1) which is close to the inside rail in PP3. Starlust finished third behind Big Evs in the BC Juv Turf Sprint when last seen, and the return to 6F may benefit this progressive colt which runs in the Jim/Fitri Hay colors. They had a first and a third here last Friday. Seven Questions is also very progressive and consistent (9/3-2-3), finished a head behind Starlust in AW GIII at Kempton at equal weights, gets a couple of pounds from him today. Subsequently was a fine third behind Juddmonte's Array in the Mill Reef S. (GII) at Newbury, then another third to Classic Flower in the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte (GII) at Chantilly on final 2023 outing. Well worth a separate win bet at or near that price.
WIN- 9 EX- 1,9/1,8,9,11,12,13
MEY R6 (11:25am ET)- 1m2f Handicap (Dirt) (3yo+ 85-105)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-01-12/858750
Wide-open handicap with at least a half-dozen possible winners. Boxing three that drew well and are near the top of their form. #2- Celtic Prince (9-1) was a never-nearer third in GII Al Maktoum Mile last time, not sure if the added furlong will help but he's the class of the field. #4- Go Soldier Go (8-1) ran well here as a 3yo before shipping to the States for a couple of races with Todd Pletcher. Back home now with a turf prep a week ago, expecting a forward move. #10- Naxos (5-1) is consistent (7/3-3-0), draw a line through the Royal Ascot non-effort and he's quite progressive. Boughey is on fire and Buick aboard reaffirms confidence while killing any value. No idea what to do with the two ex-Russian runners, will watch one.
EXBOX- 2,4,10
MEY R7 (12:00Noon ET)- 1m1f Lord North Handicap (Turf) (3yo+)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-01-12/858751
#5- Highbank (3-1) is the logical Godolphin favorite of their five runners, Buick's choice. Low confidence vote, however. #3- Track Of Time (8-1) had a great run here last time despite a troubled trip, close fourth behind runaway Godolphin winner Local Dynasty, turns back a furlong, jockey switch to Jim Crowley is notable.
WIN- 3 EX- 3,5/2,3,5,6,10,11
MEY R9 (1:10pm ET)- 1m4f (1m4f11y) Handicap (Turf) (3yo+ 65-90)
www.racingpost.com/racecards/1231/meydan/2024-01-12/858753
#6- Sea Stone (4-1) gelded son of Sea The Stars was raced as a true stayer in GB last season, going 4/2-1-1 in four 14F-16F races. Turns back to 12F today but has handled the course and distance previously. Many other contenders drew very wide, will mix in some longer shots underneath looking for a getaway score.
