Move your horses soon Baffy owners.
“Horses under the care of any suspended trainer may be transferred to a non-suspended trainer and become eligible for earning points in a road to the Kentucky Derby race on a forward-looking basis so long as the transfer is complete by January 29, 2024,” according to conditions posted Friday on the Triple Crown website.

Pretty impressive run by HADES yesterday. Broke from the rail and went to the front contested. Fought off early challenges to be eyeballed by 2yoBC Juvy winner FIERCENESS and ran him in to submission.
If you had watched HADES’ last race and noticed how he kicked in and opened up down the lane while stretching out , you might have expected him to put up a good stretch run again—and he did.
Pletcher runners were all odds-on and nowhere to be found in FL yesterday—-Repole was quiet.
NYSOS???

I watched his last & he likes a horse to come to him so he can blow them away I figured he had a good shot in this race & he did the same thing.

Virus going around Palm Beach Downs. Pletch and others. Did not know about PBD. I knew about Belmont. Barn 15. Because it has been published. Apparently one in Gargan's barn had to be euthanized --- sounds like everyone else in that barn (15 other horses), including ones that shipped to AQ to race, are okay.

Actually winter is the worst time for the type of virus impacting barns in NY currently, EHV 1, specifically (or likely) the neurotrophic strain. Can’t say with 100% certainty as haven’t read anything or been involved as away in the islands, but when a horse is euthanized and something is reported as a quarantine, that’s usually what it is. Regardless, winter is a bad time as same as with viruses in human populations - the colder weather leads to less time outside in the open, more time inside with areas shut up to conserve and keep in heat, and more contact between individuals. This is the type of environment a virus thrives in and usually the time of year we see most cases of EHV 1.
The typical spring stuff we see is usually respiratory and more related to horses being shipped from all over (resulting in stress) and comingling from a variety of locations from the winter.

A little off topic so apologies in advance, but I will be attending my first KD this May with 2 buddies. We are flying into Cinn, watching a Reds game Friday night and staying at an Embassy Suites close to the ballpark. We purchased GA tix to the Derby and my question is-should we rent a car and drive to Louisville or split an UBER early Sat AM? Also, what would be the best time to get to CD? We are not interested in battling lines or getting close to being able to see the race, just want to go for the experience and have a Mint Julep and sing My Old Kentucky Home.
