Probably not but if there was it would really help us spread widely in the other races. Nearest to a single in my opinion would be Idiomatic in the Distaff and Elite Power in the Sprint.

I think Arcangelo is a single. His #'s are way higher than any other horse in this Classic race. Just my humble opinion,,love his story and have great respect for Jena Antonucci and her team.

Arcangelo will be on the ticket for sure but might be tough to beat Baffert on his home track. Also the Japanese Dubai World Cup Winner , Ushbar Tesoro must get serious consideration.

A 5x5x5x4x2x2 is based on a $2,000 pool. Could have two singles 5x5x5x4x2x1 5x5x5x4x1x2 (5x5x5x4 same on two tickets ) Add "B" selection on both "2's".

I believe that locomotion and fresh air is important for a horse's well being, and I was very happy to see that Jena Antonucci built a round-pen for Arcangelo at Santa Anita.
I consider her top class spokesperson for the sport in the US.

I am totally undecided about the BC Classic, and have not picked my horse yet.
Arcangelo will have White Abarrio, Saudi Crown, Arabian Knight to deal with.

if i owned arcangelo (or just about any animal) he'd have cameras on him 24/7 and i'd know whether or knot he kicked a wall
but i'm a big fan of round pens so if he goes i personally will use him as my exacta key

For the Classic, believe it or not, I was not going to use Arcangelo after he pulled the #1 post. But he was also not lasix free.
But my preference has been that there are a number of horses in the race who have run classic distances and they are still lasix-free, for entire careers. Zandon, Derma Sotogake, Usba Tesoro, Arabian Knight. Missed the Cut and Proxy only had lasix 1x.
I like to see more of these in the breeding shed.
I mean, going forward, do we want to keep shortening races and/or shorten the time between the Triple Crown races, both have either already happened or have been discussed happening. I am in favor of sending distance horese who are lasix free their entire race record to the breeding shed because that just seems like the best way to reach certain goals in future progeny, why not start now.

I always find it interesting how fickle we horseplayers are, thinking back to the KY Derby when Derma Sotogake's odds dropped from the M/L because even all the U.S. talking heads thought he had an "American running style on dirt". He ran 6th, with Lemaire aboard, who keeps the mount. Japan's #1 jockey by wins 2017-2021. 182 days off must have scared everybody off.  That trainer wouldn't bring the horse here if he wasn't ready. What are the stats on the jockey on Ushba? Save me the work if somebody can fill me in. |
