7 Patrick's Day 8/1, Was the name that stuck out for me to take a closer look at this race.I played him in last in a heartbreaker at KD.Beat in the final yards at 9/2 by another horse I have played. Why didn't you have that($146.80)exacta Doc? Because I'm STUPID!Today although I'm not as confident in his chances, for a few good reasons.First ,his trainer Maker has another in here that will be the favorite.By all looks,Tyler bailed for Casse's Super Tapit 6/1 who was last ridden by J.Ortiz(who just happens to be on the favorite)but is 0fer turf.Manny Franco gets the leg up and he's been riding well,so I may be putting too much into that.
9 Soglio 8/5,the other Maker holds a class edge here with his placing in a G3 at KD last out. Also has a big BRIS PrimePower number of 165.2 which is 22.8 points higher than the second(Super Tapit). These are big numbers if your not familiar with them. His only issue will be the out post.
5 Altito 12/1,has had only two turf races in his twentynine starts.Bernardini on top doesn't set me on fire and his SW dam never turfed but has some sibs which have won on grass.Leparoux stays with him after just missing in a 1-1/2M KD Starter.
2 Morning Stride 15/1,plucked from Sharp for 62.5 at the Spa first time for tag by Amoss.Amoss is on the duck at Keeneland but he gets Jimmy Graham.Lone 3yo in the race also gets the weight off.Last out he ran against some salty company at KD.This one could be the price play.
Now after all that I would not be surprised to see any of the others win.Not a great vote of confidence but this looks like a good one.
Good luck,what say you.
