Belmont Gold Cup on Fri looking like the better way to spend my money 12F on turf.
I think I will probably skip the Belmont Stakes if the odds aren't good for 10 horses (or less who knows by Sat!)
Last year the odds for the BEL Stakes were horrible, and I'm glad I passed the race. The exacta barely paid $14. If Skippy had not run 3rd at 12-1, the trifecta would have been dreadful, like if that pretender We The People had run 3rd.

yet........Tapit Trice barely got by him in the Derby.   Based on his Derby run, and despite getting bumped and checked, Raise Cain still ran 8th out of 20. OTOH I'm partial to Lemon Drop Kid so that made me like Raise Cain more than I probably should have. I also like his trainer, so there's that. There are some in here with no shot, just like all the pretenders in the Derby.....and pretenders in the Belmont last year (like We The People, who went off as the 3rd favorite which I thought that was almost comedic) I tried to talk anyone I cared about off that horse......probably to no avail, but he sure wasn't on my trifecta ticket. I'm surprised he managed 4th but there were only 8 horses in the race so I guess that wasn't suprising. |
