True Story

Forgive me for involving my brother in this story. I know everyone has probably lost someone very dear to them. I will quit mentioning Lou after this short story.

I 'm texting with a close friend who always asks me who I like in Triple Crown Races. Not sure what makes him think I know how pick winners but he thinks I do. As I was texting him who I wagered on and all the exotics I bet I looked at a great picture of Lou on his funeral pamphlet and texted my friend that I was betting what Lou's favorite bet was.

A $5 trifecta box. I bet the #1,#3 and #7. When that tri box came in I looked at Lou's picture. I must say that as the tears started flowing down my cheeks I eventually smiled and in some weird way I felt much better. Oddly enough, that friend I mentioned is pretty well off and called after the races and said he was taking me and another friend to next years Derby at Del Mar.

Maybe Dell will sing. I have a year to rehab and hopefully stay out of a wheel chair. Fingers crossed.   That is all.

This is a great story…. I agree with Hooper… we would enjoy hearing more of them….

Spanky, I'm proud of you. Fight every day. Where most of us are now (aging) loss is something we are all dealing with. We all would like to see a photo of you standing on the rail at Del Mar next year.

Thanks for the kind words. I now have what I think I need the most. A goal to shoot for. I plan to see my UIC brothers and sisters at Del Mar in a year.I have fond memories of my ex wife and I holding hands and walking on the beach. We were in our 20's so little did I know that 40+ years later I would be involved with a site called Up in Class.
