I see a scratch risk. I liked him due to a sires list, pedigree play, and trainer, and killer amount of stamina
-----but he missed a work on May 2nd, and the last time I saw him out walking around, he really didn't look like himself, just looked kinda under the weather.
He would be a perfect Belmont stamina-laden grinder, I hope if he's really not feeling well that they will stick around for that race.
OTOH it may just be a day or 2 not up to it, but can't afford not to be 100% going into a race like this.
I fully realize that most people didn't like him to begin with, but IMHO he is a lot better horse for this distance than Derma Sotogake.

Continuar a no show on the track again today. Derma also just walked as well I believe following his work yesterday. Practical Move didn't do much of anything again today either and really has not since arriving here but he was energetic coming on to the track so maybe they are just trying to keep him in check and not do too much? Don't know the barn well enough to know. Disarm back to the track early following his Monday work and looks good coming out of it.
As for Oaks, Cox horses out too early to see. Southlawn looking good and Gambling Girl caught the eye.

Dale's horse (Cyclone Mischief) would possibly add to the early pace if in.

Call me cynical but I envisage a situation if someone else scratches then Continuar will scratch to let Mandarin Hero in .

Well looks like differing accounts.
He was out on the chute for an hour, exercising today.
Today, May 3rd, Continuar hung out in the chute for an hour -- so every vet in that area had a good look at him and they don't mess around in big races like this.
He also GALLOPED 1 mile on Tuesday, May 2nd.
It was reported he didn't work. Personally, I actually prefer nice long gallops, over "official" works with stopwatches.
(We are kinda hung up on those I guess. Otherwise Watchmaker wouldn't have anything to read off his clipboard.)
For now, I consider all is well. I've liked his pedigree and trainer since he set foot off the trailer. Never like Derma Sotogake much since I didn't think he would get the 1w1w trip he got in UAE. For now I will stick with that thought.

Its a cultural thing. What can I say. Mandarin Hero is a nice horse. He will show that in the Preakness. As for Cyclone Mischief, not with my money, even if he had already gotten in a long time ago. Good prep race horse though.

Good prep race horse though. Absolutely it’s a big cultural thing. If they have a chance of taking down the Kentucky Derby with Mandarin Hero they will do it. Continuar has no shot . Doesn’t belong there .

The Japanese horses have taken the 3 possible routes to get here and their best chance is outside looking in. Ironic, but I bet we see more prepping in the Us in the future.

But I've said all along he won't get the trip he got in the UAE. I prefer horse coming out of a different race than the UAE, and should that happen in the future, or if Mandarin Hero gets in, I might feel more positive about their chances. There is something about UAE winners that just doesn't work out in the pedigree for the KY Derby. I'd like to see them both go in a different TC race, or a BC race. I watched Derma on Wed. Quick gate horse, but then jockey appeared to pull him up early. On Tuesday he was pulling against the reins. And now that he's Andy Beyer's pick to win the Derby.......that's bad isn't it?
