Thoughts before the pre-entries:
Concrete Rose- Won nicely on the stretchout, 2 for 2 on the grass and lifetime. G2 win at KEE. Twirling Candy is an outstanding turf sire!
La Pelosa- Shipped into WO from Europe and won a fast-run G1 at a mile, beating 12 others. Just missed in a G3 at Royal Ascot in June. Charlie Appleby for Godolphin.
Newspaperofrecord- Two starts, two daylight wins. G2 win at BEL. Chad Brown for Klaravich. Could be one of the lowest priced favorites of the whole BC if the Euros don't show.
Also in the mix: Just Wonderful, Lily's Candle, So Perfect, The Mackem Bullet.

As of today no defections from the race. La Pelosa's race in the Natalma (GI) came back slower than the clock time/visual indicated, will ponder that some more. I think she is the tipping point for hitting the board, though. Beat her to grab a share.
Long-range weather forecast calls for significant rain event Wed.-early Thurs., so there's a good chance the turf will be less than firm. Most likely winners: Hermosa (P)- looks best of the Europeans, keeps improving, has handled all going. Newspaperofrecord (E)- two daylight wins at 8.5F, both on yielding turf courses, literally the one to catch in a race without any other obvious pacesetters.
Other win candidates: Concrete Rose (P). Can use underneath: East (S), Just Wonderful (S), La Pelosa (P), Lily's Candle (P), The Mackem Bullet (P). Running Style: (E)= Early speed; (P)= Pace tracker; (S)= Sustained late run.

AOB has a less than stellar record in this event with some short prices on the win end, but usually around at the finish. I'd use Hermosa but Newspaperofrecord should roll here.

Newspaperofrecord looks like a cinch. The only chink I see is she hasn't run on a good or firm course yet.Makes me wonder if her wins aren't exaggerated..a bit. I'll be using Summering as a key runner.Proctor has a way of sneaking in at a long price.

Re La Pelosa: On my Brisform (downloaded from Twinspires), she shows up as post position 0 with no saddle cloth number Think I prefer #3 Lily's candle 8-1. I liked her run-on Arc day.

Without knowing anything about the Euros, Newspaperofrecord (2/1) is an obvious play, Was tractable in her first race so she doesn't appear to need the lead. Concrete Rose (6/1) has done nothing wrong. The pace runners fell apart in her last race except for her and her stalk and pounce style with a ground-saving trip looks like a plan. East (20/1) may get a buck or two as a longshot from the 14 hole. She probably has the lest impressive resume of the Euros but, hey, stranger things have happened.
