No clue here as draw will make a big impact. I know you want to have prepped going 6f or less in this race historically and 5f is a different animal. Treading lightly

As of today no defections from the race. Conquest Tsunami has been right with Stormy Liberal at SA and Meydan, not sure if 5.5F helps or hurts. Disco Partner would have won last year if it was run at 5.5F, never better. Will definitely NOT appreciate yielding/soft turf. Stormy Liberal looks to repeat, can't knock 2018 form, turns back in distance from down-the-hill win at SA. Havana Grey is an interesting 3yo from GB, can handle soft turf, big fields, and GI company.
Most likely winners: Havana Grey (P), Disco Partner (P), Stormy Liberal (P).
Other win candidates: Chanteline (P), Conquest Tsunami (P).
Can use underneath: Rainbow Heir (P), Richard's Boy (E), Vision Perfect (E).
Running Style: (E)= Early speed; (P)= Pace tracker; (S)= Sustained late run.

Pay Any Price at a huge price! Surprised I have not seen any stories on this horse yet. He holds the world record for 5 Furlongs on the turf but is still only first reserve. You could have claimed him for $8k a couple of years back at Calder and now he is running for $1 million ! This 8 year old gelding continues to improve. The wonders of modern training. 🙄

When did Churchill start running 5 and a half furlongs on their turf course and how did they get an extra sixteenth of a mile out of their backstretch to do it?

From DRF article:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Since Churchill first began running turf races in 1987, all sprints over the turf course have been at five furlongs. That’s about to change, as the first 5 1/2-furlong turf race will be run here Thursday as the seventh and featured race.
Adjustments have been made by Churchill so that the starting gate can be stationed just a few yards outside of the 5 1/2-furlong pole for such races. Part of prior reluctance to run the longer distance was that a crown on the outer edge of the course came into play. Churchill racing secretary Ben Huffman said most turf sprints going forward will be at 5 1/2 furlongs, and in fact another has been carded as race 6 Friday.
The impetus for the change came from officials at the Breeders’ Cup, who asked whether the BC Turf Sprint could be lengthened. The 35th Breeders’ Cup will be held here Nov. 2-3.
