Heads up- Unlike previous pools, this one closes on Saturday before either the Florida Derby or Arkansas Derbys have run, so if you like an upset in one of those races bya horse in the futures pool, you might consider betting it.

Just took a nibble on Reincarnate at 50-1 on William Hill UK. I also asked for odds on Mage, will wait and see what they offer. WH is only offering Derma Sotogake at 14/1
Added Mage at 50/1

#40 All Other Three Year Olds is currently 25-1, which means there's a 75% chance the name of the winner is on that list.
So, there's that. 🤔

I took a punt on Mandarin Hero at 94-1 That's a good risk. If he wins the Santa Anita Derby and depending on the Bluegrass and Wood Results, he'll probably be 10-1 or so in Kentucky.

Honestly, I know they have to "encapsulate" and are probably limited to a certain word count by their editor(s), but how some of these writers manage to keep their jobs is sometimes a mystery to me.
"since the classy Mendelssohn ran the distance in 1:55.19 in 2018"
Everyone on the planet knows Mendelssohn's race was over right after the gate opened. He got bumped around, and pretty mercilessly, and was eased.....
.... so tell me what is the POINT of giving out his time, without even providing CONTEXT? Why not then, just leave out that line altogether?
He ran dead last and there was a reason for that. it almost sounds like the writer is casting shade on a horse who had an untoward event happen to them, ran dead last, and for some reason that I cannot even fathom, wrote down his time as if it was some kind of actual assessment of a UAE winner.
Now I know why I never read at these sites, but links are so easy to follow.......

Then, another talking head writes that they think Derma Sotogake is more "well meant". How is that? I just want to know what the writer MEANT by that.
derma too took 4 or 5 races to break his maiden. By the time Continuar hit the track, he won on first debut, and that is when his (brilliant) trainer mapped his trajectory.......and he maps and plans, he doesn't do accidentals.
Yet, Continuar's trainer is well known for his ability to place horses correctly all over the world, has an understanding of US Racing, and how utterly perfectly he is known to prepare his horses to run...
..because when Yoshito Yahagi plans on specific races, you can be sure they are mapped out carefully in advance, and always involves international travel. He shows up with the goods----he's not throwing horses up against the wall out of a stable of 200+ to "see what sticks". (And there's at least 5 US horses who "accidentally" made the gate AFAIC.). This trainer won the Japanese Triple Crown. This trainer won the $20 million Saudi Cup beating Baffert's horse with Panthalassa.
If he brings a horse anywhere, that horse IS *well meant*.
While Derma Sotogake seems to have a running style that US racegoers are more familiar with, I am not sure he will be good at 1-1/4 miles
Continuar will be on my ticket somewhere. NOt sure about Derma though.
