By my brother, who's a top exec with NBC, so this invite comes all expense paid, plus a primo seat with the NBC folks and their top advertisers. Still, my initial thought is NO. I don't really like to travel, health is a consideration. It's not a bucket list thing for me....the Masters would be the only sporting event that's on that list. Still, anyone have any thoughts on the KD experience?

as much as i hate the entity that is cdi not taking advantage of this would be sorta silly (as long as your health is not THAT bad and u are QUADRUPLE vaxxed). people there will be maybe 10% vaxxed (unless u stick with the nbc people who are forced to b) and are not really known for following public health dictates. I am at risk myself but would go, double (at least) mask, find an empty room to chow down on lobster and whiskey while capping and hope the alcohol kills whatever germs i might inhale later on. no one will miss u while you're gone...4 sure

I've been to 35 of them and the experiences have been priceless. Never this kind of first class trip though and Depending on your health, you should do it. You can be a reporter for the board and share your observations!

you should probably go, it's your brother, it's comped, it's the best seats and it's first rate everything.
actually talked about this subject in some depth w people on the shuttle from the horse park to keeneland for the breeder's cup. they were lifetime kentucky residents who asked me a series of questions and through my answers, to a person all agreed the on site derby experience is probably not for me. to paraphrase, the breeder's cup and keeneland are here for the true fans and that's how they saw me. they felt the derby wouldn't be as enjoyable cuz i might view it as, 'little more than a prom with horses in the background.' they thought maybe i should do it once just to notch it off some list. maybe i will. maybe they're wrong and i'll choose to do it a lot of times.
as an aside but still on the derby train. knowing the kind of player i am, one who's best with slow pokes and platers, there might be no greater waste of time and energy than the amount spent each spring in trying to find a derby horse. you begin to feel like some marketing department's dream. you know the reality yet get sucked in regardless time and again.

I think it would be like an opportunity to go to the Super Bowl if your team was playing…. the fact that you can do it as a VIP with your brother sounds like a wonderful opportunity…..one that many could only dream of…..
