i will call this a "hunch bet" Meraas in fine form for G3 $1.5M Riyadh Dirt Sprint
Maitha Salem Mohammed Belobaida Alsuwaidi's Meraas, trained by New York-based Chad Summers, will exit post 6 under Abner Adorno in Saturday’s Group 3 $1.5 million Riyadh Dirt Sprint, a 1,200-metre test [about six furlongs] on the undercard of the $20 million Saudi Cup at King Abdulaziz Racecourse.
Meraas, a Group 3-winner at Meydan last February for his former conditioner Musabbeh Al Mheiri, made three NYRA circuit starts for Summers in 2022 led by a frontrunning optional-claiming score with Adorno up on December 30 here that garnered a 97 Beyer.
That effort followed a third-place finish in September at Saratoga in his North American debut, a six-furlong optional-claimer won by returning rival Elite Power; and a troubled off-the-board effort in the Grade 3 Bold Ruler in October at Belmont at the Big A.

I don't play that track so I have no input at all. Only time I will pick horses on tracks I don't play on a regular basis is for a fun contest on paper.

I picked a Ben Colebrook horse in the Turfway race..........but I guess I should have picked his horse, Raise Cain, for this race, eh?
VERY HAPPY for Mr. Colebrook.
Let's see if they take this horse away from him. Colebrook has had some really good horses in the past and they whisk them away from him (like Knicks Go). I will be pissed.

Interesting how Raise Cain went off at HUGE odds (over 20-1) in the Gunrunner Stakes and came in 2nd. And ran in the superfecta in the Leonatus Stakes as well. And ran 3rd in the Bowman Mills stakes as well.
Then won today. At high odds........AGAIN.
I have noticed that sometimes a horse will run 2nd and people will still ignore them.......a mistake.
He's run at 5 different tracks now, with successes. If you count his superfecta placement in one of his career races, he's been 83% in the money (as was Confidence Game in his race). If you don't count the superfecta hit, he's 66% ITM.
I think he's the real deal.

I don't know why NYRA is suggesting they are leaders in this respect? Even back in 2013, Tampa and Oaklawn were cited by Paulick: "Oaklawn Park has shunned computer-assisted bettors for years, arguing that they win often enough to discourage other gamblers" and Tampa discouraged them by offering unappealing discounts. Oaklawn wasn't allowing RGS and ETC into their pools for many years, as far back as 2013 that I can remember; Tampa allowed them but charged them a hefty signal fee. Without good *deals* for rebates on handle, CRW teams don't have an edge because it's not profitable for them. Not sure if still true today......anybody can have a CRW team and not be noticed but the big ones are the ones tracks were watching. For recreational bettors, I don't think it changes things too much, unless you are pushing a few million across? Losing 0.20 or 0.40 on a wager if you're not betting huge sums, i.e., doesn't affect people like me. From 2015:
www.swtimes.com/story/sports/columns/2015/05/03/king-oaklawn-takes-aim-at/26342038007/“At Oaklawn Park, CRWs are on a hit list. We simply refuse to allow them into our pools,” Bobby Geiger, Oaklawn’s director of wagering and simulcast, said in an Email. He said Oaklawn realized more than 10 years ago that “these parasites would kill the grandstand player and ultimately the wagering component of the sport, so we eliminated them from our distribution portfolio. “They’ve tried to sneak into our pools on multiple occasions … but we constantly monitor our pools for the activity,” he said. “WE ALWAYS CATCH THEM. The practice is so egregious and unfair to the other patrons in the pools that is impossible to disguise.”

I am curious now. Just how great is Nate.........LMAO Well, you can find out because HowGreatIsNate......that horse who ran the entire Gotham w/out a rider after he dumped Acosta, is running in R9 at Laurel today 3/18. I guess we'll know more now. (4-1) Along with McPeek's Hayes Strike . 6-1 odds Brittany Rusell's Circling the Drain is running at 6-1. I kinda like this one. Edit: ended up putting a win bet on Circling the Drain and Hayes Strike. Hayes Strike went to 8-1 at post and won 6 $18.20 $7.20 $3.80 HowGreatIsNate ran 4th
