Hey Spanky , I’m in Edinburgh to hook up with my posse for our flight to Doha. Had the full Scottish breakfast this morning which included not only your favorite Haggis but also Black Pudding 🤤

What are the other items on the plate (besides the eggs and beans?) Also, it looks like Smucker's plan for world domination is nearly complete . TW

Looks like a Scottish(?) breakfast. I could never eat the beans. Enjoyed Edinburg 30 years ago, and had my first euro driving experience from Edinburg throughout the highlands. First experience with a roundabout and going the wrong way .
Enjoyed it—-hope to visit next June prior or after the racing.
Sounds like a great trip Bev!

Guys if you ever want to visit Scotland I would recommend connecting via Newark where United has a direct flight to Edinburgh. Flight time was only six hours and no delays at passport control or customs (apparently it’s a nightmare connecting through Heathrow) Also Edinburgh has a brand new tram service (safe and clean) which takes you right into the center of Edinburgh from the airport for just $7.

You mean I’m not the only one who has to eat liverwurst under cover of darkness! Tom let’s make a pledge to enjoy a liverwurst on rye next summer during the Spa meet. TW

I can come out of hiding now that I know there are so many kindered spirits at this site who admit to liking liverwurst. Used to get the round roll, cut off a slice and have it on a Ritz cracker. Alternate that with a bit of brie, also on a cracker. Great snack.
Actually, I'm a fan of many things that have wurst on the name, especially bratwurst and even knockwurst. My favorite weird food is country scrapple, harkening back to time spent on the Eastern Shore of Maryland as a kid.
Thanks for starting the post Bev. You probably didn't expect where it would go. Hope you enjoy the trip to Doha.

I like liverwust but liversausage a lot better. chicken livers with mushrooms and onions in red wine over noodles was a certain restaurant favorite. 24 hour diner had chicken liver omelettes before they started to go healthy. polish store WAY down the road has any pate you could want (including rabbit i believe), for only 3 or 4$ a pound. i go nuts there. POTATO SCONES SOUND AWESOME! ps-tj's sells a mean chicken liver mousse in the hummus section

Still hoping to make the trip, want to do about two weeks in mainland Scotland and a week in Shetland. The latter as my grandfather was born there at Mid yell? (my dad was born in Glasgow). Last year I discovered that I have a "cousin" (we share a great grandfather) who lives in Lerwick and he has invited my wife and I to visit him there. Alex is a gentleman who did not even know I existed, or I him, until last year and when I mentioned that I saw there was one hotel in Lerwick, replied "we'll hear no more talk of that, you'll stay with me."

STILL no haggis, menudo or head cheese for me, but i close my eyes when my cheese has rennet

when i was VERY young, like 6 or 7, everyone was eating at grandmas. i said it was the best pot roast i ever had and was then informed it was from a moose my uncle had bagged. i would eat deer sausage until laws changed and the plant would weigh your carcass and give you the already processed equivalent turned in by somebody else.yuck. i trusted my uncles and grandfather but no road kill for me. best and almost only fish i ever liked was northern pike they got up in canada and i was always fascinated by his bear-skin rug. the turkey i'm picking up tomorrow died downstate friday and thank you for reminding me i want to pick up a turducken loaf from chicago's best meat market. HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYBODY! ps-did you see budweiser is going to give all that surplus beer to have a party to be held in whichever country wins the world cup? (laws permitting, i guess)

Attachment DeletedActually the only thing missing from the plate was kidneys. Growing up in Scotland in the 1960’s it would be considered a special occassion if you had steak and kidney pie for dinner.

Mom had Lancashire roots. Steak and kidney pie was a big thing for her but she had to make a second one without the kidneys for Dad and me. The whole house stunk for a week after. And don't get me started about finan haddie.
