fthat was a nice race in the Lukas Classic going 1-1/8. Finishing 2nd to older horses, and getting nipped (barely) by Hot Rod Charlie.
I think anyone would be hard-pressed at this point to say he doesn't belong, and that his KY Derby win was a total fluke, also considering he just missed 3rd in the Travers, too.
I kinda like him quite a bit. Looking forward to his next adventure.

Really disappointed in Sonny. Got to think this is going to hurt his business going forward. Why ?

Was just coming over to post this huge disappointment . Soumillion, Sonny, and really the same for Irad.......they should start a team and call themselves the reckless trio. OTOH I don't ride, wondering if a horse starts to get so close to you that you can feel their side on your foot if it's not just reflexes to use your body to push them out of your way....NOT excusing this of course. paulickreport.com/news/integrity_art/sonny-leon-handed-15-day-ban-over-intentionally-interfering-rival-in-lukas-classic/Well I still like Rich Strike, esp. at CDX. Look how much dirt he took (in the photo) we know he is not afraid of getting covered up in dirt. I thought he and sonny went together well, maybe not the best idea going forward now.

And now we have the possible "toe grabs" problem on Hot Rod Charlie. I have no opinions anymore. We have milkshake O'Neil with 47 Rulings on his record, last was 4 in 2020 (did not go thru to find out how many were medication related) but still 47 is a lot. (considering Graham Motion has 0). Going up against Reed who has 9 total rulings, last in 2007. But it's so sad when racing comes down to who can not only the bettors trust, but it seems it just splays out like an octupus into every corner of racing. Basically, unless it's Motion or Clement, or maybe Roger Attfield (and I'm sure a dozen others I do trust) l I can't even take sides anymore. www.horseracingnation.com/news/New_controversy_Did_Hot_Rod_Charlie_violate_shoe_rule_in_win_123

Now we're back to no toe grabs and no saddle slipping. What a mess.

That chess story was interesting. Before watching the video, I thought How did he cheat? Move one of the pieces when his opponent wasn't looking? (I'm kidding). It is still a little unclear, is the inference that someone with access to a computer was sending him signals?

Crazy last few weeks. The fish cheating is very clear, the poker, chess ones are still questionable. (but very..can I say "fishy" ) Anyone who plays poker just shakes their head at the call on the turn there. (though knowing her play ....(prior hands) not so much)....just bizarre stories all about.

Now we're back to no toe grabs and no saddle slipping. What a mess. Oh. I did not know. Decided not to "try" to keep up.

Two replies.
1st I'm not believing she thought she had j3, cuz she rechecked her cards a couple times after Garrett went all in.
2nd rich strike would do better if gelded. Every race on tv he spends the warmup trying to savage his pony. Last two televised tries he looked to be running right by Zandon and hot rod charlie respectively, but pulled himself up for no apparent reason. Studdish is the phrase they use.

a third point, in cheating spots like the poker hand vs garrett, it's probably performed using a live stream surveillance w a viewer who activates a buzzer hidden on her person. buzz once if you're ahead and twice if you're behind kind of thing. she got buzzed cuz she was ahead. ahead w under 50% equity i think. we've all made calls for our entire stack where we're 'flipping at best'. we spot patterns and get some kind of read. usually good, occassionally not. our tiny pair or two big over cards feel like the best hand in spite of the hyper agression. she wasn't in that kind of spot. she got semibluff owned and there's not a real world in which she actually calls.
