Hello everyone,
I haven't posted in a long time, however, I just wanted to see if anyone else has been using Trip Note Pros and if not, to let you know about it.
Michael Beychok told me about it a few months ago and they are the best trip notes I've ever seen. Tons of detail, but more importantly - opinions and often strong opinions. And opinions as to when the DRF chart callers screwed up, which I especially like. I've had terrific success with them during the TC races and now at Toga and DMR. They have been especially helpful when deciding to toss a false favorite or double down on a price play I like.
I was at the Del Mar Handicapping Contest this past weekend and met the guy who owns the company and does the work, Ryan Flanders, and he's very cool and trying to expand. Currently individual cards are $14, however, he's working on greater track coverage and hopefully getting that price all the way down to $4 p/ card.
I told Ryan I would post on UIC as you all are serious handicappers and exactly who his customers are likely to be. It's a great product and I want to support him however I can.
On a more serious note, I saw the memorial race set for Aug 28th for Larry and that's just awesome! I can't imagine a better way to honor him. Larry was the first person on this forum I met personally and I had some great times with him in Vegas and at Belmont for the BC. I saw that you won't know the actual race until the overnights come out, but wouldn't it be appropriate if it's a grass race?
Take care,
Dan

Thanks for posting about this Dan. I checked out the samples and established an account. I think I would definitely make use of his notes on races where I have a strong bettable opinion, for confirmation, or a contrary view to make me think twice. The 'trip comments', such as they are in the PPs/charts, often don't match up to what I think I'm seeing when watching replays. I'll give it a good look.

Great to hear from you Dan. Looked through the website and reviewed the examples and my interest is duly piqued. Will give it a try for Saratoga this Saturday.
Cheers
Bev

Is this the same site for which daily samples were offered during the Keeneland Spring meet? Will give it a look and thanks for the post/plug.

The best trip note is in your eyes.If I see anything questionable in a pp I'll pull up the replay. You will be surprised what they miss as well. GL

PS...if bsouthstreet is the real bsouthstreet, then a good way to introduce your product here would be a code offered up to the members. Just a thought

Yes I know, but as an added incentive for the members here who are not familiar with your product you might want to consider a code just for them to aquaint them to your product. Maybe pick a weekend date and message here before time to Upinclass (in our message board) a free code he could send out to every member via e-mail. Or better yet post a pdf file of one of your sheets here which members only can view.(pdf files are viewable by members only) Could not hurt, might find some here who find the information valuable to their way of handicapping. Might also induce some who are not members here to join. win,win

The first few paragraphs from an article 40 years ago. Hooper
By Andrew Beyer February 4, 1982 Throughout the modern history of American racing, handicapping methods have changed remarkably little. The memoirs of the legendary gambler Pittsburgh Phil, written in the early 1900s, disclose that he stressed the importance of class and physical condition, watched for larceny by jockeys and trainers, and computed speed figures. Serious horseplayers continued to operate in a similar fashion for more than half a century.
But a revolution is taking place in the handicapping world. Astute bettors are using an approach that would not only have been foreign to Pittsburgh Phil, but also was almost unknown just a few years ago.
"Ten years ago," said a professional gambler who asked anonymity, "there were only two of us in New York who knew anything about trip handicapping--and the other guy eventually lost his mind. What a time! You could make more money than the president of the United States if you knew what you were doing."
Five years ago, I first started hearing some sophisticated New Yorkers talk about "trips." And now the majority of serious, professional horseplayers probably would characterize themselves as trip handicappers.

Right now we don't even have a coupon code available, and when we gave an access login - people mistyped the login and it literally locked the account! Once we migrate the site I'll circle back. I can't do a PDF - PDF's get shared - and I can't work for 18 hours a day watching replays and have people pass it around. It is not fair to me or those that ethically purchase the tool. But I will figure out a way to sample 'upinclass' members at some point. Appreciate your consideration. As an aside, we are be vetted by the Breeders' Cup - which COULD give access for a big weekend - although I don't recall the BC ever partnering with a handicapping tool of any kind, so we'll see.

With the weather forecast tomorrow looking sad as sad can be, I seriously have doubts about the turf. 80% Rain...up to half inch, with 20 mile winds and gusts up to 40. Looking for a slew of scratches.

Trip Notes on Cyberknife: *****
TRIP NOTE There are a few things to consider for this runner: 1) He was unsettled at the gate and was forced in at the start which resulted in negative contact with an inner rival which cost ~2L. 2) He landed 3W in the back half of the field on the first turn, on a track that was strongly favoring the inside and front runners. 3) He was covered up down the backstretch and took a lot of dirt while appearing to be uncomfortable in this spot. He was asked on the turn and moved up 2-3W before he was angled out to the 5-6 path at the top of the lane. He showed good determination to the wire despite the tough trip.

Trip Notes on In Italian
TRIP NOTE She showed big speed after an average break, easily making the lead while in hand into the first turn. She maintained her position to the top of the lane, finished with good energy to the wire, and continued to display positive energy in the gallop out with her ears forward.

Trip notes on Kimari :
TRIP NOTE PPs don't tell the story of her dominating win. She broke fine and landed outside the pacesetter down the backstretch. She was well in hand in the 3-4-path to 2-3W on the turn, before her rider pushed the "go" button at the top of the lane. She was ridden 'hands and heels' to the wire without the rider cocking his stick. An impressive score in what appeared to be a prep, it's worth noting that she received some help from the track on this day.
Trip notes on Jackie's Warrior:
TRIP NOTE He did slightly lose his footing at the break, but it ultimately did not affect his early positioning as he was allowed to settle on the inside to set the early pace. He was challenged through the first four furlongs of the race by a foe who ultimately faded. He cornered poorly, exiting the turn 3W while putting that for away, and was ultimately run down by an off-the-pace runner who benefited from sitting behind the duel. While the fractions were moderate, he did the dirty work on the front end and still finished a clear 2nd.

Trip notes Regal Glory:
TRIP NOTE She was off nearly 1L slow at the gate, which is not captured in the running line. She rated kindly while biding her time by herself for most of the race, was eased to follow the outside stalker in the far turn, eventually easing 3+W late in the far turn to a clear shot at her barnmate in the stretch, and after being ridden with a TON of confidence, was finally set down ask to finish, falling short despite a strong late kick. A neutral trip overall, she takes on the boys again today.

Trip notes Clairiere:
TRIP NOTE She was outquicked early, saved ground all the way around the track, and was never involved after being urged from the 3/8's pole the finish, but it's hard to put too much stock into a trip for a runner that was quite nervous in the gate before the race ever starter. We recommend drawing a line through this race.
Trip notes Nest:
TRIP NOTE She saved ground through the first turn before being eased to a clear and wide path on the backstretch, which is all of the room she needed! She cruised while stalking a clear leader and stalker on the backstretch, progressed nicely in the far turn while being ridden with a ton of confidence, and after overtaking the leading position with more than 1/4 to go, quickly spurted clear when asked, and coasted at a high rate of speed in the final furlong. A dominant performance after this clean and neutral journey, there seems to be plenty more under the hood for this sharp filly.
