Racing begins at 8:50am EDT Goodwood 1:50- 1m2f Coral Chesterfield Cup Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/21/goodwood/2022-07-26/81594618 runners. #2- Soto Sizzler (12-1) had a win and a second at Epsom this Spring, then ran into a GII-type field in a Listed event at Sandown last out, where he was fifth of seven. In career form at age 7, Buick rides back, don't sleep on him, especially at the odds offered. #9- Brilliant Light (6-1) won at Ripon on seasonal reappearance, then finished close to the winners in two big field handicaps at Ascot and York. Red-hot Daniel Tudhope rides again from a cozy draw in two. EX- 2,9/2,9,13,14,15,16 Result: 12,9,13 Frankie Dettori draws first blood as Forest Falcon ($41.00) goes forward from his wide draw, traveled strongly throughout. Johnston yard just wins here, especially this race (7th time?). Goodwood 2:25- 7f Vintage Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (2yo)www.racingpost.com/racecards/21/goodwood/2022-07-26/815945Have to call the quality of the Chesham S. field at Royal Ascot into question, with first-time starter Holloway Boy winning at 40-1, and runners-up 80-1 & 33-1. None of the subsequent runs by members of that group have been good, so I'm prepared to look foolish if Holloway Boy does it again. #4- Dornoch Castle (6-1) gets a long look, with two impressive wins in two starts, making all the pace both times. #9- Mysterious Night (4-1) is an Appleby/Buick/Godolphin son of Dark Angel with three good efforts under his belt. Third to Persian Force going shorter earlier this month points him out. EX- 4,9/2,4,5,6,8,9 Result: 8,6,9 Marbaan ($27.10) sat in behind under a typically patient Jamie Spencer, only beginning his run at the furlong marker and just getting past Holloway Boy, which proved he's the real deal. Mysterious Night pulled his way to the front much sooner than Buick would have liked, couldn't hold on late. Goodwood 3:00- 7f Lennox Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/21/goodwood/2022-07-26/813935Older 7F specialists don't have many options at the distance in the first half of the season, so it's not surprising to get a superb field like this once it's offered. 3yo colts get 7lbs from their elders, which is significant if you have a top 3yo. #7- Sacred (9-5) 4yo filly was a good 2yo, then won both 7F tries in an abbreviated 3yo campaign. Improving 4yo ran a remarkable fifth, beaten less than a length, in the GI Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot in her return. She should tackle all these GI/GII 7F summer/fall races, including in France. Exciting horse. #10- Lusail (4-1) has run close behind Coroebus (twice) and Tenebrism in his last three (GIs all), now makes first start against older horses. He's stretched at the mile distance, so should also concentrate on the 6F/7F races going forward. Generally prominent in the running, he's drawn in two and should be sent right away from the stalls. Hoping for a scratch or two underneath to make for a cheaper ticket. EX- 7,10/2,3,5,7,8,10,11 Result: 11,2,5 3yo filly Sandrine ($31.20) was a fine 2yo, took a while to come to hand this season but ran third to Prosperous Voyage and Inspiral in the GI Falmouth last time. Drop back to 7F hit the bullseye, apparently.Goodwood 3:35- 2m Goodwood Cup Stakes (Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/21/goodwood/2022-07-26/813934The wildcard is now the presence of Trueshan in the race. Trainer will check the ground with jockey in the morning, but if it is 'Good', they are willing to run on it. If that's the case, then Stradivarius is the third choice in the wagering and you could bet him, at a track and race he's never lost, at 3-1. I don't think I'll bet the race, but if you could split him and the two favorites, you could be paid well in triples. I'm not sure Kyprios has to win this, although he has been very progressive, but he's drawn in eight and I don't think Moore goes on with him early as Atzeni surely will on Stradivarius, so he'll have to pass the champ to win. Fascinating race. 3,7,9 all have place chances at big prices. Goodwood 4:10- 5f Handicap (Class 2) (4yo+ 0-105)www.racingpost.com/racecards/21/goodwood/2022-07-26/815947Only one of these (Celsius, 9-2) has won its last race, so the wagering will be all over the place. #1- Atalis Bay (10-1) gives weight to all, but may be rounding into form on the drop today after three stakes races in a row. Tudhope sticks around. #10- Rayong (10-1) is one I've been following, he ran a race in April at Pontefract (which he really likes) that would win this. He had a quiet 2021 campaign but seems much more focused (or healthy) this season, Franny Norton back aboard today for sprint expert Karl Burke. Big chance. EX- 1,10/1,2,5,6,10 TW

A nightmare trip for Atzeni on Stradivarius—-made Frankie seem not as bad……Moore stayed out of the fray, setting up for another of his recent winning finishes. The old runner went out like the champ that he has always been. Hated to see him lose(6-1?).
Good start to the short meet!

Stradivarius is going to run again probably in the Lonsdale Cup at York according to the owner and trainer . They should try and get Ryan Moore as both Dettori and Atzeni couldn’t find a smooth trip for him
