Thursday- GOING: GOOD TO FIRM, Good in places (GoingStick: Stands' side 7.6, Centre 7.9, Far Side 7.7) (Watered) (Partly cloudy) STALLS: Centre 1:50- 1m5f (July) Bahrain Trophy Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) (3yo)www.racingpost.com/racecards/174/newmarket-july/2022-07-07/814861Small field of six 3yos, so it might become a tactical affair. I like #6- Zechariah (9-2), which notably gets Ryan Moore aboard today, coming off a nose loss to Eldar Eldarov in the Queen's Vase (GII) going 14F at Royal Ascot. It's a bit troublesome that his two poorest efforts have come here, but he looks like a summer/fall horse that gets better with some races in him. EX- 6/1,2 WIN- 6 Result: 2,1,5 Deauville Legend ($12.80) was an overlay with all the money flowing to Zechariah (9-5), looks like they have some options in the 12f-14f range with this son of Sea The Stars. Zechariah just doesn't care for Newmarket, it appears.2:25- 6f (July) July Stakes (Group 2) (Colts & Geldings) (Class 1) (2yo)www.racingpost.com/racecards/174/newmarket-july/2022-07-07/814862All but one of this group has Royal Ascot form, most ran in the Coventry Stakes (GII). Master-of-the-obvious says it's between #4- Little Big Bear (8-5), which won the Windsor Castle S. going 5F, and #6- Persian Force (3-2), which ran second in the Coventry. I'll hope to split those two with either the #1- Brave Nation (10-1) or #5- Mysterious Night (6-1). I think the #8- Waiting All Night (15-1) could be a spoiler, with Hollie Doyle in the saddle. EX- 6/1,5,8 Result: 6,7,5 Persian Force ($2.80) was not displeased with the late scratch of Little Big Bear, putting in a workmanlike effort to comfortably win this Group II. 3:00- 6f (July) Handicap (Heritage Handicap) (Class 2) (3yo 0-105)www.racingpost.com/racecards/174/newmarket-july/2022-07-07/813929Field of nineteen 3yos going 6F. Preference is for #6- Khanjar (9-2) which has been progressive through four starts and won impressively at Ripon last time, and #9- Ingra Tor (10-1) which beat leading 3yo sprinter Harry Three over the Rowley Mile course here before faltering to that foe at York in last; some horses just don't seem to like York. EX- 6,9/2,5,6,7,9,12 WIN- 9 Result: 16,8,6 I've been betting Lethal Levi ($37.80) all year, he's as consistent as they come (15/5-5-3), but despite his ultra-light impost I couldn't see him winning this. Went right to the front and no one could put a dent in him. Good for veteran jockey Jimmy Quinn, who had one win this year before today, but can do a very light weight when a trainer needs one. Ingra Tor faded badly, appears to be going off form, but noted too late (just now) that Lethal Levi was fourth behind Harry Three in that York race.3:35- 1m4f (July) Princess Of Wales's Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) (3yo+)www.racingpost.com/racecards/174/newmarket-july/2022-07-07/813928Another small field, tactical event, with #3- Mostahdaf (6-5) looking to regain his winning ways today. Progressive type is tractable, Crowley will likely have him second or third on the outside waiting for go-time. WIN- 3 Result: 6,1,2 Yibir ($3.60) got rolling late and wore them all down. Appleby said they'll head to Saratoga for the Sword Dancer next. He'll need some pace there, might need to bring Global Storm with him. Mostahdaf, despite being a Frankel out of a Galileo mare, seems to run out of gas at the 10F mark.4:10- 1m (July) Sir Henry Cecil Stakes (Listed Race) (Class 1) (3yo)www.racingpost.com/racecards/174/newmarket-july/2022-07-07/814863#1- Albahr (5-1) has been unsighted since January at Meydan on dirt; was progressive as a 2yo culminating in a GI win at Woodbine. #6- Mighty Ulysses (2-1) will have all eyes on him and Frankie Dettori, progressive colt just missed to Coroebus in the St. James Palace at Royal Ascot. Cautious but logical next step, perhaps for both horse and rider. EX- 1,6/1,3,5,6,8 Result: 6,2,3 A little bit of apprehension two furlongs out, but Mighty Ulysses ($3.60) ran on strongly through the finish to see off Berkshire Shadow. Dettori seemed all business both before and after the race, no flying dismount, we'll see where things go beyond tomorrow, when Frankie heads over to Belmont.Bet: $36 Returned: Donut Loss: $36.00 TW

As always, 10f lays it out well:
1:20-race 1 #5 IVORY MADONNA comes out of a Royal Ascot spot where she finished just behind a pair of well-thought fillies. That form merits favoritism unless the odds board says differently, and so far, it doesn't. xboxing 1-5-6-7-9 hoping someone else (hopefully 2 entrants) step up. ------ ugh...no #4
1:50 race 2 Maybe #2 DEAUVILLE LEGEND is the better stayer here? #5 WALK OF STARS has to be better than his Derby effort for Apple/Buick. #6 ZECHARIAH and #4 MASEKELA also figure.. tri pw 2-5/2-4-5-6/all -------- missed a good tri--did make small win play on #2
2:25-race 3 Going in on #6 PERSIAN FORCE. Wasn't catching Bradsell in the Royal Ascot opener, but much the best in both races prior. Serious competition from Moore/O'Brien #4 LITTLE BIG BEAR, and I might split them with #1 BRAVE NATION. #6 win aggressive if not the fave.
3:00 race 4 Might pass if I lose the 3rd--otherwise small win plays on #7 DEODAR and/or #6 KHANJAR.
3:35-race 5 #6 YIBIR has been globe-trotting with minimal success. A slight break from Appleby, and Buick on board. Maybe the best here, but not so sure. Obviously Gosden's #3 MOSTAHDAF is a player, and you don't need me to tell that. #1 LIVING LEGND is very spotty with poor recent form, and same for #4 NEW MANDATE with Dettori comeback. #6 win
4:10-race 6 Love #6 MIGHTY ULYSSES here, though #3 BERKSHIRE SHADOW gets my attention, and has best back form. 6 win tri pw 3-6/3-6/all tri box 1-3-6
probably back tomorrow gl!

Little Big Bear is a late scratch at Newmarket.
