An investigation by OpenTheBooks.com discovered that LA's highest-paid ocean lifeguard, a captain named Daniel Douglas, raked in a total of $510,283 in total compensation last year, nearly half of which – $246,060 – was from overtime pay. Douglas' base salary is $150,054, and he brought in another $28,661 in "other pay" and $85,508 in benefits to surpass the half-million-dollar mark.

It never fails to amaze how some people always seem to focus on the little things that don't matter much while turning a blind eye to the really big issues.
Even if the guy did rake in 250,000 in overtime it is a small drop in the bucket as far as the state budget is concerned. Do you folks really believe that this is the reason California is going broke? Of course it isn't and reality check...California is not going broke.
I really don't know why I even bother. Some folks just have an axe to grind based on erroneous information and they refuse to think clearly for even just a second.

On the subject of thinking clearly----Trudeau is pushing gun confiscation while legalizing Fentanol and Cocaine? Is this true? OK---keep them stoned, weak and defenseless---great way to stay in power How do drug deaths compare to gun deaths in Canada? If the above happens, how will the %s change? We should be able to clearly think this out.....
take care tc--good luck this weekend!

All of this takes the back stage to me when I just can not in any way see how the USA could run out of BABY FORMULA! 2022 has been a hell of a year and it's only June 1st...lol...BUT...the big news of the day is that Johnny Depp is awarded 10 million bucks. That fiasco is finally over. Or is it? Only been to Canada once but I must say it has beautiful women, the cleanest streets and the bars love their hockey! Signed jerseys hung in all the bars I went to (and I went to many)...

Canadian gun law proposal. Hooper
By BRITTANY BERNSTEIN May 31, 2022 8:38 AM
Canada on Monday introduced legislation that would ban the sale, purchase, importation, or transfer of handguns in the country and would require most owners of “military-style assault weapons” to turn in their firearms to a government buyback program. “We are capping the number of handguns in this country,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.
Trudeau said the government plans to draft a legal definition of a “military-style assault weapon” that would not be easy for gun makers to evade, the New York Times reported. The term is often applied to the AR-15, which has been used in a series of recent high-profile mass shootings. However, the AR-15 is semi-automatic, firing one round for each pull of the trigger, while most military-issued rifles have fully automatic capability.
The legislation also includes provisions that would make it a crime to modify a rifle to increase its capacity, increase penalties for gun smuggling, and give police the authority to seize guns from individuals whom a judge has found to be at risk of hurting themselves or others.

British Columbia decriminalization plan. Hooper
Jacob Knutson Axios
Canada's drug regulator announced Tuesday it will temporarily decriminalize illegal drugs for personal use in British Columbia for three years starting Jan. 31, 2023.
Why it matters: The exemption is the first of its kind in Canadian history and is in response to an unprecedented and growing overdose crisis in the province.
The exemption will allow adults in the province to carry up to 2.5 grams of opioids — including heroin, morphine and fentanyl — crack and powder cocaine, methamphetamine and MDMA, also known as Ecstasy.
They will not be subject to criminal charges for carrying up to that amount of those specific types of drugs and will not have their drugs confiscated. They will be provided with information on available local health and social services and assistance with those services if requested.
People will still be subject to criminal charges if they possess amounts above that limit or produce or traffic the drugs. Using drugs near schools, child care facilities and airports will still be illegal.
