...to have no idea whats going on and feel a little queezy when watching the races from Pimlico. They have such large tents in the infield that it's blocking half of the track. The "artsy" shots they're using instead of the pan are just so that there are horses on the screen at all times. I did learn a couple of things from the long head on shots. The rails are old school, non-Fontana rails and they're really wavy. Wish they had the safety rails there instead. I also never knew how undulating the turf course was there. The little ups and downs seem to throw off some of the runners.

They need to move the Preakness to Oaklawn. Track has perfect bias for this race. But it gets too hot in AR in May.
Pimlico is an embarassment.

I have only been to Pimlico once (it was the year that War Emblem won), and to Laurel probably have a dozen times. Laurel was a nicer facility for sure but they may not be able to handle a Preakness size crowd. My dream back in the day was to move the middle jewel to Arlington (and go back to dirt). Arlington could have handled the crowd no problem and it would have been a shot in the arm for the Track. Alas, that cannot be now.

New facilities this decade.
According to the Maryland Stadium Authority, construction should begin late summer 2023. The following year, crews will knock down the permanent grandstands. In 2025, crews will tear down the clubhouse. A new clubhouse is expected to be built in 2026, which is also when all the renovations are expected to be completed.

Yeah. Just thinking.. I did Preakness with Hooper and a few others. 2003??? We missed the Belmont because it took 6 weeks to get out of there.. . Once we found our car in Saratoga.. we made it to the Travers. Lol.
Just kidding..
I remember though outside the track there were some guys selling sandwiches…. I think there was a sale that day., leftover from the previous Preakness. .. little rough there.! .

Here I is! Now stop trashing my Pimlico. Gone to 19 Preakness Stakes but none in the last 7 years. Can’t deny that the track is not too pretty. But isn’t the fun times at any track the important thing? Good luck today everyone!

Timmye? Nice guy who actually handicapped What ever happened to him? One of my all-time favorite posts @ the old forum was created by timmye... "Can a man dream and reach for the stars?" A brilliantly written paragraph about why some super longshot was going to win. I don't remember the name of the horse, but I do remember it won and paid a bundle!
