Surprised they are not going. Wonder if the tweet that got out yesterday played a part.

I had the sense from the interviews the next day that they were reluctant to, but if they did it would be out of a sense of duty.

Horse had no shot in the Preakness and I don’t think will fare much better in the Belmont. Feel sorry for the journeyman jockey who misses out on being in the spotlight at the Preakness.

PS, My recollection is that a healthy Gato Del Sol, elected to skip the Preakness, and what about Spend a Buck? Gato Del Sol, trained by Eddie Gregson, finished second in the Belmont. His decision to bypass the Preakness incurred the wrath of Chick Lang, then the general manager of Pimlico, who had a goat placed in the stall in the Pimlico stakes barn usually reserved for the Derby winner.

Reed said “The horse is fine. We’ll look forward to running in the Belmont.” Don't think D Wayne would have skipped.

Meanwhile, the pure stupidity and ego of Taiba's owner will make me hate him forever.
There is no "obligation" or "sense of duty" here. It is a vicious sport that chews people and horses up and spits them out.
I applaud their decision. Why ruin him?

There's always a few every year.
