CHM R1- 2m½f (Old) Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
Going to take a flyer with #7- Mighty Potter (6-1) from the Gordon Elliott yard. He beat a decent field at Leopardstown just after Christmas, but made a few mistakes during the running. Elliott has had ten weeks to tinker with him and he certainly has improvement in him.
WP- 7 Result: 2,4,6 Mighty Potter jumped awkwardly mid-race, and the jockey wisely pulled him up. Constitution Hill ($5.80, what a gift!) effortlessly drew away from the field in the home straight, his second-place stablemate is no slouch, but you needed binoculars to find him at the finish.
CHM R2- 2m (Old) Arkle Challenge Trophy Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
#4- Edwardstone (5-2) looks tough in this with three consecutive Graded victories. Will use him with #8- Saint Sam (8-1) from the Mullins yard and #11- Riviere D'etel (4-1) the mare that finished just ahead of Saint Sam last time.
EXBOX- 4,8,11 Result: 4,5,1 Edwardstone ($6.80) was a prompt favorite, doing well to avoid an early faller right in front of him, then shaking off the blow from Riviere D'etel which crashed into him when veering right over the second last jump. Chaotic race in behind.
CHM R4- 2m½f (Old) Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
It's #10- Honeysuckle (3-5) who is just a few lengths or more better than all of these, so I won't take her on, but if she wasn't in this race, I'd think #8- Zanahiyr (20-1) would be squarely in the discussion.
PL- 8 Result: 10,9,8 Place $20.00 Fifteen up, fifteen down for Honeysuckle ($3.00), undefeated and unchallenged today. Zanahiyr did make a gallant run of it, narrowly missing second but clear of the others.

Traditional big 'ROAR' as the opening race was sent on their way, but how about the performance of Constitution Hill in only his fourth start. New superstar? Anyways, there won't be a more impressive winner at the festival.

Day Two: www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2022-03-16/802346CHM R1- 2m5f (Old) Ballymore Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) (Registered As The Baring Bingham) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
#6- Sir Gerhard (4-5) stretches out in distance for the first time after GI win last month, won the Champion Bumper (GI) here last season, can get Willie Mullins off to a flying start today. #7- Stage Star (6-1) appears to be the main threat, won a GI at Newbury in December at this distance, waiting for the top one to stub his toe. TRI- 6/3,4,7/3,4,7,8,9 WP- 7 Result: 6,8,9 Sir Gerhard ($3.00) was an easy winner. Stage Star jumped poorly later in the race, fell back in the field and was eventually pulled up.CHM R2- 3m½f (Old) Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Registered As The Broadway Novices' Chase) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
Two very impressive, undefeated horses over fences in this. #3- Bravemansgame (2-1) has been progressive against small fields, but he's handled the distance, class, and ground he gets today. #9- L'Homme Presse (3-1) has been similarly progressive in four starts, seems like a natural chaser and the current price could seem quite generous after the race. #6- Farouk D'alene (15-1) has good form lines through last three runs, can certainly outrun his odds. EX- 9/1,2,6,11 PL- 6 Result: 9,1,8 Exacta $23.00 The rain has really softened the ground, leading to some late scratches, including Bravemansgame here. L'Homme Presse ($6.00) made the front before halfway and never looked back, jumping fluidly and handling the conditions well. Farouk D'alene made some errors during the running and fell coming over the second last, horse and rider appeared to be okay.CHM R4- 2m (1m7f199y) (Old) Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
Just an exciting race to watch, but I'll play a triple wager trying to split the top two. Thinking that #7- Shishkin (4-5) will see out the final uphill stretch better than his pace-setting rival #2- Energumene (7-2), and perhaps #1- Chacun Pour Soi (5-1) or #3- Envoi Allen (20-1) can get up for second. TRI- 7/1,2,3/1,2,3 Result: 2,4,3 They held up Energumene ($6.60) off the pace today, and when Shishkin was pulled up early in the going all the luster came off the race. Still a fine effort in testing conditions, and the triple is going to pay handsomely for those who were bold enough to play 2/all/all. {edit: triple paid $323 for a dollar}
CHM R7- 2m½f (Old) Weatherbys Champion Bumper (A Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4-6yo)There appear to be two standouts in this event, #2- American Mike (5-2) from Gordon Elliott, and #7- Facile Vega (6-5) from Willie Mullins, but historically it hasn't been $ rewarding to back favorites on top. Going to try three lightly-raced Mullins horses on top of four others and hope for a bit of a score. {edited to spread wider, throwing out 9,15 which may not handle heavy going according to connections} EX- 10,12,16/2,3,7,10,12,16,17 Result: 7,2,10,17 Class prevails. Mullins runs 1-3-4.TW

Throwing a couple of bucks on Ashdale Bob at 22-1 for Mrs Harrington in the third He definitely looks better over hurdles than chasing. I boxed 2,5,9 in the third. Let's get this! TW

Day Three: www.racingpost.com/racecards/11/cheltenham/2022-03-17/801444CHM R3- 2m4½f (New) Ryanair Chase (Registered As The Festival Trophy) (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (5yo+)
#1- Allaho (3-5) is the best horse in the race, winning this event last year by twelve lengths, and victorious in both preps leading up to today. If he's to be beaten, perhaps stablemate #6- Melon (15-1) could be the one. He's won over testing conditions before, and finished second in a Festival race four years running until he pulled up last year. EX- 1,6/1,2,3,4,6 CHM R4- 3m (New) Paddy Power Stayers' Hurdle (Grade 1) (GBB Race) (Class 1) (4yo+)
Wide-open event. #1- Champ (9-2) has a win and a second against a few of these this season. #4- Klassical Dream (7-2) is the lone Willie Mullins entry, is usually there or thereabouts in GI contests. EX- 1,4/1,2,4,7,9 CHM R6- 2m1f (New) Ryanair Mares' Novices' Hurdle (Grade 2) (Registered As The Dawn Run Mares' Novices' Hurdle) (GBB) (Class 1) (4yo+)Field of 20. #2- Love Envoi (12-1) is five-for-five and would like deep going. #3- Party Central (5-1) has five wins from eight tries, smart victory in 15-runner prep for this. EX- 2,3/2,3,6,12,19,20 TW
