I played a gorgeous home this afternoon...
an 80th birthday party in a 20 room mansion
filled with 80,000 pieces of museum quality art.
The photos I'm sharing were taken in the foyer,
music room & sitting room, where folks had lunch.
The house goes on in every direction. Exquisite art.
Totally uncool to go snapping about... however,
each room was more beautiful than the previous
...and the history.
There are thousands of walking canes - carved canes
ivory canes and canes of gold and canes of silver,
with jewels and time on the planet. As far back and
farther - circa 1600's. And thousands of arms, weapons
antique swords and rifles - collected from all over the world
and master painted snuff boxes - individual master works
and master works on the walls - and matchstick holders
porcelain and gold and silver... the coin collection, breathtaking.
Demitasse of cobalt blue and gilded gold - hundreds, all wonderful.
Arriving early, I got a great spot out front...

Anyway, 
Lois is a sweet gal who, when asked, said...
"I want Dell Yount to sing at my party!" and Voila!
I sang about 45 minutes, then we broke for cake & happy birthday.
Back at the piano deciding how we wanted to play the second set,
I suddenly heard... "They'reloadingintothegate..."
Wiat a Minute! Where's that coming from?
"And they're off in San Felipe Stakes."
With cake plates in hands... a small group by the front door
huddled around one fellow's phone as we watched the race.
"He's winning...is he winning?....he's winning....he won by a lot."
"We're going to the Kentucky Derby!!" The young man announced
he was part owner of Forbidden Kingdom & they were going to Kentucky.
I think they should bring their personal Broadway singer with them in May.
