From Churchill.
Today Churchill Downs recognizes Mandaloun as the winner of the 147th running of the Kentucky Derby and extends our congratulations to owner/breeder Juddmonte, trainer Brad Cox and jockey Florent Geroux. Winning the Kentucky Derby is one of the most exciting achievements in sports and we look forward to celebrating Mandaloun on a future date in a way that is fitting of this rare distinction..

Doesn't pay the people who bet it that day or get back money paid to those that already got paid..... Yes? Sad that the horse and owners had to suffer the consequences of Baffert... and now is no longer here to redeem that......

Mandaloun was a 26-1 shot in the Kentucky Derby, and — if he had crossed the finish line first that day — a $2 win ticket on the colt would have paid $55.80. Alas for those who bet on Mandaloun, there will be no win payoff. Once the race is ruled official on the track — which it was minutes after the finish — the parimutuel wagering is also official and winning tickets can be cashed in. No subsequent disqualifications or changes to the order of finish have any impact on the betting windows.

Cost me an Oks/Derby double, both on the (two) days, and in a futures pools as well as a win bet. That's horse racing.

I didn’t use Medina Spirit but a win on track by Mandaloun would have resulted in a nice tri, exacta and WPS ticket, plus a future. Have to admit, the whole thing has resulted in my wagering less since and my enthusiasm for the sport tempered to say the least. I still live it daily, but not as ravenous as I once was. It’s horrible timing considering my son is a freshmen at UK and that is the exact time I fell in love with the sport, scheduling my classes so I never missed a race at Keeneland.

IMO….No one that owns a race horse, and has the horse’s best interest in mind, should hire Bob Baffert to train their horses.

I agree Baffert is nothing but liar, cheat, and killer of race horses as his record shows since 2004. Seventy five horses have died under his care/training since then. He always is blaming someone else or something when his horses test positive !!!!

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A Kentucky circuit court judge on Monday denied the trainer Bob Baffert a stay of a 90-day suspension issued by Kentucky stewards until his appeal of the penalty can be adjudicated by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission, ruling that the KHRC was within its rights to issue its own denial of a stay. www.drf.com/news/kentucky-judge-denies-baffert-stay-suspension
