Belmont and Roosevelt raceway were my stomping grounds growing up. 5 minute drive from high school. Roosevelt long gone, havn't been back to Belmont in a long time, but with all the development they have going on..pretty sure it's lost some of the luster of years past.

Belmont Park is one of my favorite places in the world. I liked it shivering with 50000 fans for Breeders Cup 2005. I like it on a spring Wed sitting on the mostly empty benches by the rail BYOB. I loved it for many Jockey Club Gold Cup days (now diluted into many cards of BC preps) when I saw lots of future hall of famers. The paddock / picnic area is great. Haven't been there in almost 5 years so I'm overdue.

I'm with matt.....Belmont Park has always been one of my favorite racing venues. Wide turns--two turf courses--top riders/trainers/runners--and the LIRR from Penn Station can drop you off at the grandstand gates. Used to be 3rd floor finish line guy until I moved a floor below. Easier trip to the paddock and back + entrance and exit levels. I always use the stairways to make it quick.
Crime/unrest has caused me to miss the last two Belmont Stakes runnings, and I have no plans to return this year. Wife and I spent Belmont Stakes week in Manhattan for 35 years. Best restaurants, shopping and entertainment in the country, accessible via subway(taxi only in the evening).

I know many have made the trek to Saratoga in order to meet other Forum members….. appears this may be an easier venue for some to get to … I would consider a trip there if a day was set up…….
