It's Reylu not Mario on #1 surfer dude... That's a HUGE plus for at least one member here. Stewart trains #1 & #2, a Louisiana bred. Both 15-1.
3 Pappacap & #5 Epicenter are top favorites.
#4 is interesting, if you get a square price.
# 6 CyberKnife might be worth a stab. breeding, gun runner top flower alley bottom.
#7 HERE'S YOUR LONGSHOT to win or run last. love this pedigree. love this name @ tote-lightin' odds!
#8 Call Me Midnight. JimmyG used to be longshot lucky for me.
#9 Presidential is a Pioneerof the Nile...
gets my vote to hit the board for a good show.

I'm a bit interested in Cyberknife, based on the connections. Bred by the Ramseys, purchased at KEE Select Yearling Sale in 2020, sold to agent Joe Hardoon, $400K. Owner is Gold Square LLC.
Gold Square LLC is Al Gold of Saratoga Springs, NY. His best friend is Jon Hardoon, who does the 'Sheets' seminars at Saratoga every day before the races. His son is...Joe Hardoon, bloodstock agent. Doctor Disaster and MadameBlum have been sitting in at the Sheets table now for many years, they can tell you all about Al and Jon. A few years ago, Gold told Hardoon that when he finally got a promising young horse, he'd name it after him. On September 2, 2018, a 2yo NYB filly named Take Me to Hardoon won on debut in a MSW at the Spa. Colleen and I watched the race near Al and Jon on the TVs by the $50 windows inside the clubhouse. They were jumping up and down like schoolkids after she crossed the wire, I still have photos somewhere. So Al is one of the good guys, and he's clearly stepping it up, asking Brad Cox to train.
He's by Gun Runner, out of the Flower Alley mare Awesome Flower, winner of $500,000+ including stakes wins on all three surfaces (dirt, turf, AW). Cyberknife was DQd from his debut win at CD in September, then ran second in another sprint at Churchill. Finally broke his maiden at FG going two turns the day after Christmas. Two works since including best-of-41 bullet at FG on 1/15. All systems go!

So Pappacap 8/5 is supposed to win this.He is the fastest by definition, working lights out, good post and style. What could go wrong? For one Epicenter 9/5.Has a C&D big win.Who's to know what he has next.I don't see a backwards movement.I have him on top.The side angles I like here are BJ gets "the other" Asmussen, Presidential 20/1 giving up Epicenter to Joel.I'll definately have him in the mix.Gets the wrong end of the stick with the post draw but BJ makes a living at getting good trips from out there. Surfer Dude 15/1 for Dallas gets the rail, has speed and(quickly becoming one of my favorite jockeys)Reylu. He's been beat by some of these in the past but must not be overlooked. Trafalgar 5/1 fits here as well.Stall takes a big step off a nice Oclm win over C&D.Hot jock C.J back up helps his chances. 5/1,3,4,9 GL

Cyberknife is Cox's derby horse. Epicenter and Pappacap will take money, with Trafalgar an interesting price play.

There was a stretch of about five years where I tried to make the winner of this race, the winner of the Kentucky Derby... didn't even have to be the winner, just running an interesting 3rd or 4th would do. But nothing ever came from this race to do well in the Derby for me. Maybe this year?

Going to take a flyer with Call Me Midnight, really like the last work, the only one who has shown he prefers from coming off of the pace and there seems to be a fair amount of that here.

Thanks Dell, a nice one for sure. I didn't think he was going to get there but sure came running down the lane. Certainly flatters Smile Happy coming out of that race back in November.
