My guess is that he never runs again Sadler said Flightline’s gait this week was “not perfectly normal,” adding that it was a hind leg.” Sadler said X-rays were negative; the preliminary diagnosis is he strained his right hock. Sadler said there is “no real timetable” for how long Flightline will be sidelined, and said optimistically “we’re not talking about a big thing. But when a horse like him doesn’t work (Sunday), people want to know.” Plans call for Flightline to remain at Santa Anita pending further diagnosis. Best case outlook to worst case outlook. Interesting article: www.horseandhound.co.uk/plus/slipped-hock-injuries-can-horses-recover-fully-629251In recently reported cases from the University of Zurich, five out of eight horses were able to return to some level of work eventually. Typically, this takes between six and nine months, although a mild mechanical lameness should be expected long term.

Sadler knows how to inject a hock, he was a vet assistant as a kid.
