The Giants are hard to watch. Even as a Cowboy fan.

This is real. Fan Appreciation Day was yesterday. Tone deaf marketing.
Earlier this week, the New York Giants announced that Sunday would be deemed “Fan Appreciation Day” at MetLife Stadium. As a part of the festivities, season ticket holders would be given one free medium Pepsi.
That’s right. Not a large, but a medium soda in a cup full of ice.

I guess that really demonstrates their level of appreciation.

Brown is just a punk. Booted from the Steelers, Raiders and now this. But he's Terrific Tom's boy. Mental issues?

Being a lifetime Giants fan I've seen more than a few abysmal years of football played by them, but I never stopped watching as painful as it was. It's gotten so bad that I haven't watched one full quarter of them in over three plus years. The front office has been a hopeless train wreck and it shows with the teams they've been putting on the field. They've been clueless and hopeless.
Wellington Mara has to be turning over in is grave at the mess John has made of this once proud organization. Today they're a laughingstock shell of what they once were as a team. John needs to take a lesson from his father and let others take over the running of this team from GM on down. Unfortunately, I don't know that his ego will allow him to do so. Maybe his doing some housecleaning at the end of this most embarrassing season will be the first step towards him getting it right.

So in New York, you have the Giants and Jets. In Texas, we have the Cowboys and Texans. Which State has it worse and why?

So in New York, you have the Giants and Jets. In Texas, we have the Cowboys and Texans. Which State has it worse and why? An interesting question spanky! My take... The Jets have a 44% win percentage overall, they started their existence out by making the playoffs twice in their first twenty years, including a super bowl that kind of came out of nowhere. Besides those two appearances they were poor to mediocre at best. They had a pretty decent run of playoff appearances from the late 90s into 2010 but haven't sniffed the playoffs since 2010. Granted, they've played in one of the tougher divisions since 2000 (Patriots) but still the worst of the four teams by far for me. The Giants, 1956 - 1963 made 7 appearances in the NFL championship game, won their first appearance and then went 0-6. 1964 rolled around and the Giants didn't see the playoffs until 1981. A long, long drought and some pretty ugly football and embarrassing game moments along the way, miracle in the Meadowlands anyone? 1981 - 1990, 5 playoff appearances and two super bowls, not too shabby! 1997 - 2011, 8 playoff appearances including going to the super bowl 3 times and winning 2. Since 2012? One playoff appearance otherwise a pretty miserable run and a 38% winning percentage over that time, and since 2017, a whopping 27% win percentage. The Texans, came into existence in 2002, no playoffs in the first 9 years, then 2011 to 2019 6 playoff appearances and the last two years a woeful 8-25 record. I wouldn't say their organization have shown they're a super bowl contender type as yet but they have shown some promise. The Cowboys, no playoffs their first 5 years then an incredible run from 1966 to 1985 where they made the playoffs every year but for two! They got to the super bowl 5 times and won twice. A five year hiatus and then another great run from 1991 to 1999, 8 playoffs and three super bowl appearances and wins. Since 2000, not so great, 8 playoff appearances and most had pretty good records heading into the playoffs and the potential to make a deep run. So, disappointing. So, on the one hand looking at just records and overall being competitive or having the potential to be from year to year, the Giants/Jets are the worse. But if you look at the expectations that are placed on the teams each season then Texas has probably got it worse, primarily because of the hype always surrounding the Cowboys, and chasing the legacy of 5 super bowls and making the playoffs year in and year out. The Texans are still young and have shown they can make the playoffs, so promising and hopeful. The Jets are bad for long periods of time and when they're good...they're not that good and so a new season doesn't really bring a lot of hope...more like despair (haha). And now to the Giants who like the Jets can run bad for long, long periods of time. But when they round back into playoff mode (which often takes way, way too long) they can be dangerous as the Patriots have experienced a couple of times! To me, over the last ten years the Giants have lost their identity of what they are as a football team when they walk on the field. The Cowboys seem to still have their identity intact and that's an intangible that's hard to regain. So, while Cowboy fans have seen their high hopes go up in smoke a lot these past years at least you're not out of the playoffs starting with the first game of the season! Giants/Jets take the cake here.

I nominate forego's post for Post of the Year! Great info. Fans tend to overlook the Danny White era. Very underrated imo. The Texans are a puzzling lot. QB scandal. Rotten Management. Traded off (arguably) the best WR in the league. And the UGLIGEST logo ever. I sure miss the Luv Ya Blue team Oilers. Bum Phillips was a character for sure. Classic Battles in the playoffs with the Steelers.
But Joe Namath was the man in NYC!
