Citing California Horse Racing Board and Daily Racing Form data, The Washington Post reported June 18 that at least 74 horses have died in trainer Bob Baffert's care in California since 2000, trailing only two other trainers in the state. The Post's analysis concluded that Baffert trainees have died at the highest rate per starts of the 10 trainers with the most horse deaths there, an occurrence rate of 8.3 deaths per 1,000 starts. The figures include deaths from illnesses in addition to breakdowns. www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/250960/report-74-equine-deaths-for-baffert-since-2000

The question in my mind is how do owners let a trainer that has been known to use drugs still let that trainer tend to their horse …especially if some had died ? If you had a child in daycare and it was cited for abusing children wouldn’t a parent pull their child out ? Guess they love the almighty dollar more than their ponies…… 😔

Baffert has had 74 horses die under his care since 2000 according to Blood Horse by Washington Post June 18th that was 8.3 deaths per 1000 starts. This does not represent any horses dying under his care since then. Owners need to start taking horses from under his care !!!
