How much longer are the stewards going to put up with Irad's BS rides? He's been putting fellow jocks in serious danger every week for years now. Needs an Arcaro suspension.

I agree Irad needs to be given a suspension on the ride where he finished 2nd and DQ"d and placed last when jockey on other horse fell off his mount from interference.
Rosario should win Eclipse Award this year !!!!

Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. has been handed a 30-day suspension by the Aqueduct stewards for his ride aboard Gran Casique (Algorithms) in the eighth race on Friday. News of the suspension was confirmed late Sunday by NYRA spokesman Pat McKenna. McKenna said the suspension would begin “some time this week.” www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/irad-ortiz-jr-suspended-for-30-days/

30 days is a pretty long suspension in the current environment. It does come at a time when he really won't miss much. Maybe he would have gone out for Malibu day, but he'll be back in time for the Pegasus card. Could have been longer, but I was surprised it was this long really. Racing seems to be a lot harder on riders than trainers.

Ortiz got exactly what he deserved and i think trainers should receive more than slap on wrist. Baffert has been given too many chances as an trainer example

That’s bulls**t. He put both the horse and rider’s lives in danger. Looked pretty intentional to me. 30 days? In the middle of December to boot. Ooh, that’ll learn him.
Consequence comes nowhere close to the crime.
Glad the horse and rider are ok, but what if either was fatally injured? What then?
What a joke horse racing has become.
NYRA still sucks!
And Medina’s Spirit….who cares, he’s just a horse. Bob Baffert will continue to be allowed to train. Sickening.
Rant over. (Not really)

I agree with the sentiments expressed above. While discussing Irad, do those who follow NY closely (I only do on the biggest days), is there anything to the Ortiz brothers collusion claims?

He's a typical dirty rider who thinks his shit don't stink. It's only an infraction when it happens to him. He's the reason my contest horse Breezy Gust didn't run for 6 months after Irad bore in hard out of the gate and blasted Breezy with both hind legs in the 11th at Pimlico on 5/15.
