Anyone watch the 7-8 hours of The Beatles documentary last weekend? Worth the few $$? Leaning towards buying.

I have watched the first 2.5 hours and will watch it all. It won't be for everyone. But if you love the Beatles and their music (I do) and like to see how music is made, in some cases from rough demos to more finished product (I do), then it is very good.
I went to the original Let it Be film at the theater twice and I liked it very much. That editing did focus a lot on the discord. This still shows that, but it also shows a lot of the joy of creating and working together.
It's also cool that they revisit snippets of things they had already done, and would do in the future, including songs that would eventually appear on Abbey Road (remember though, that came out first, it was recorded after the Let it Be/Get Back sessions, and their solo work such as Give me some truth (John), All Things Must Pass (George) and It's Just another Day (Paul).
As much as you know and love music hoop, I think you will like it. (I do wish Peter Jackson had edited out the three minutes of Yoko screeching though).

I haven’t seen any of it, or the Let it Be movie. I hope to eventually see the new thing. A very interesting band and piece of musical history…..
As for the after lives, Band on the Run and All Things Must Pass are the only things I ever play. I was always more of a Stones an Dylan fan, though I now appreciate the early-mid Beatles catalog up to Magical Mystery Tour.
Try comparing their early lps between mono and stereo pressings——on the stereo pressings, the vocals are on one channel, with the instruments on the other side. The mono mix hits you with everything coming from between the speakers. A lot more punch — they only cared about how it would sound on am radio……

As far as I'm concerned, the Beatles were the best rock n roll band that ever played. My brother and I have been collecting Beatles memorabilia for decades. I was never into Dylan and the Stones have outlasted them all but John, Paul, George, and Ringo changed things. The hair, The young ladies that went absolutely crazy over them at live shows. Pete Best played with the band for a short time and was an interesting story. Just the merchandise alone made them millions. From coloring books to dolls, from a cartoon show to a few films, Sargent Pepper was a masterpiece by any measure. I can't wait to see the Peter Jackson films. Yoko never made any sense to me. I guess the heart wants what the heart wants. George and John being murdered shocked the world.
Seems like yesterday they broke into Monday Night Football where Howard Cosell announced the news of John gunned Down leaving his Dakota apartment.
