Trying Super Flattering in R6 at AQU. FTS, dam won stakes on the turf, working well, Lael Stable silks, under the radar freshman sire. Looking for on the board at 12-1.

Redboard play-of-the-day: Auditioning 'All-Weather' tracks in GB to play over the next four months until flat turf racing resumes there. (Tampa Bay Downs is W-F-Sa until after Christmas, when they add Sundays. Only interested in MSW, ALW, and Stakes on turf there, so slim pickings. Dubai (Meydan) only races once a week on Thursdays until Super Saturday and World Cup Day, doesn't start until mid-January, that's not enough action for me.) AQU, GP, FG, and OP hold no interest for me, and I don't do well at any of those tracks, especially Gulfstream Park. So England it is, at least I know the players there. There are six AW tracks in England: Chelmsford, Kempton, Lingfield, Newcastle, Southwell, and Wolverhampton. Southwell just put in a Tapeta surface for this year, so that's out until the shakedown cruise is over. Only playing the higher class handicaps (Class 2,3,4) and whatever stakes are offered, which are very few and far between. Today was Chelmsford's turn. Many of the Newmarket area trainers will send horses over to run. Nice card, three playable races: Class 2 at 14F, six runners, used the Godolphin horse on top, ran 2nd. Class 4 at 6F, 12 runners, finished 2nd,3rd,5th,6th behind 22-1 winner which hadn't won in last 17 starts and appeared badly off form. Class 4 going one mile, 11 ran. Used Holly Doyle's mount, two-for-four on AW, stretching out to a mile for the first time, had trouble in last lacking room throughout the stretch run. Competitive numbers with the others, I figured 6-1 to 8-1. Went off 18-1, wired the field, with an 8-1 I used underneath. Exacta came back $199.30. I like Chelmsford...lol. It is designed to mimic an American 'dirt' layout, with separate 7F and mile chutes, wide turns, and a long (~3F) stretch run. For those of you who are frustrated/disillusioned with the state of US racing, maybe take a break from it and try something new and different. Racing in England seems honest enough, there are no 'speed figures' to confound you. Form and distance and class is all you need. Unlike those Irish snakes...lol. Make mental bets for a couple of days. Dip your toe, maybe you'll like it. As another thought, Dell, do you want to create a separate 'Foreign Racing' Forum, so that people can completely ignore these posts if they so wish? TW
