I had no interest whatsoever in betting the BC this year, and didn’t even read much about it.
But, boy was I surprised by the lack of discussion here this year.
No offense to anyone, just my reaction when signing on last night.

my take...underwhelming to say the least...especially the classic.
glad to see the international runners do well...especially the Japanese runners.

I think that part of the explanation could be that many/most of the dirt races had smaller fields than normal, with seemingly heavy favorites that looked hard to beat. Echo Zulu (4-5, won), Jack Christopher (9-5, SCR), Gamine (2-5, 3rd), Life Is Good (3-5, won), Jackie's Warrior (1-2, 6th), Letruska (8-5, 10th), and Essential Quality (2-1, 3rd). How Knicks Go went off at over 3-1 amazes me.
I felt there was some good input from many members. I tried to get chatter going on the turf races, and that went ok, I thought. I'll redboard my best score of Saturday, in the pick-4 starting with Race 6. Got the free bingo square along with everyone else with Life Is Good ($3.40), then went four deep but got Loves Only You ($10.60) home over My Sister Nat, which I didn't use. Went four deep in the Sprint and got lucky when Aloha West ($24.60) got his nostril down. Purposely did not look at the will pays before the Mile, wasn't expecting that much anyways if Space Blues ($6.20) won. Master of The Seas (used him) was a gate scratch, so now we suddenly had a $1.00 ticket on the favorite Space Blues. Pick-4 came back $517.90 for a dollar, way more than I expected with two favorites and a third choice involved.
We all know how elk's day went (he's the man!), so did anyone else make a score?

Acacia Courtney and I were so busy planning our future together... I really didn't have much time to look at the races.
Stolen Base sucked. California Angel blew. Dunbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrr oh,noooooooooooooooooooooooo. Aloha, TW - glad someone I know had it!
BC has never been as popular as Spring racing. Things will pick up on the Triple Crown Trail. I'm betting on it... just got the renewal notice.
I hope folks keep visiting UpInClass!

TW Tom, I lucked into the all turf Pick 4 on Saturday inheriting Space Blues (who I did not use) with the scratch of Master of the Seas. I thought the $450 or so payoff for 50 cents was very generous. I was live in the P3 to the Classic for about $820 to Essential quality and over $3,000 to Art Collector (alas). Fortunately I did play a 2-2-2 on The distaff on Marche Lorraine, so I didn't totally squander picking her when I missed out on the pick3. I "discovered" her on my 4th run thru the PPs on Saturday when I noted that she had won 3 in a row on fast surface (with 2 poor efforts on a muddy track in between and that she was sired by a personal favorite Orfevere. Thought she was worth a flyer (Malathat was my main pick). In the second leg I had used 10,12,13.when I had the 49-1 shot in on the first leg, I hedged $2 late doubles 10,12, 13 to 1,3,5 in the Classic. So even though I didn't really like Knicks Go I at least got back $118 or so on the hedge. I also was playing the Twinspires bet back with $10 win bets which I almost never make , and hit 3 of those and got the bet back on 3 others. Overall a nice day, though I squandered some money trying to hit trifectas. Felt a lot better after a Friday in which the last race winner (purse only) was a key play for me that I couldn't take advantage of.

The big race days don't interest me as much as they used to. There have been too many WTF occurrences in the last few years. The somewhat questionable DQ in the Derby cost me that years trifecta. This years Derby. Multiple wholesale WTF jockeying in the Belmont. TV coverage I don't like that's more geared to fashion than horses. The thrill of picking the Derby winner is gone. I will say that I enjoyed watching the Breeders Cup, the TV coverage here is good. Handicapping-wise, the Breeders Cup takes too much time to do it right and has proven to be a losing venture for me anyway over the years. I did enjoy reading the few comments we had on UIC, especially Tom's analysis. I didn't feel I had anything to offer a comment on. In the end I did manage to come out a little ahead with small wagering. I can't watch a horse race without having a wager on it:)

Wtf is up here?
“The thrill of picking the Derby winner is gone”? Because you were dq’ed a few years ago?
The BC is not interesting?
We had deserving Japanese winners—-Charles Appleby brought over 3 exceptional winners—-Baffert returned—-Dell Yount dresses up and is photoed with Acacia—-Del Mar is an amazińg facility—an incredible inexcusable screwup to end Friday, juking multi-race wagerers out of a huge sum—a Classic loaded with top talent
I don’t get it…….
I don’t miss many BCs in person, haven’t missed any viewed and if not for knee surgery would have been at Del Mar and loved it—-even being on the wrong end of fridays debacle.

Saw this from Randy Moss.
It was bound to happen. Del Mar's new GMax timing system laid an egg on the sport's championship day. Equibase has issued revised final times for three Breeders' Cup races - oh, and the GPS-timed fractions for the Distaff and Classic are wrong, too.
