No I'm not...even when I get lucky I still lose! Story of my life. As for the scratches and alternates, I just put in picks in the morning and then am left at the mercy of scratches later in the day. Being away from the computer during the day leaves me with no other choice. except, maybe I guess I could just not play. but where is the fun in that.

$282.20 for $12 is a darn fine return...
I'd happily trade it for my 'nuthin'.
Tony, I was fascinated to see how you played the ALT, as I generally use shorter priced/more likely winners
in case of scratch. Alternates are used as tie-breakers, so I have always gone short on my alternate selections.
But you... you cracked that first race alternate beautifully. I may have to reconsider how to use my alts. Of course... it's best to simply hit the bombs and win outright. ~ badactor.

dell, from the HT site (alternates not used in the tiebreaker)
TIEBREAKERS
Should there be a tie in earnings in any event, ties will be broken in accordance with the following procedures: (a) the entry(s) with the most number of winners selected will win the tie; if a tie still remains, then (b) the entry(s) selecting the horse with the highest mutuel WIN payout will win the tie; if a tie still remains, then (c) the entry(s) with the most number of PLACE horses selected will win the tie; if a tie still remains, then (d) the entry(s) with the highest mutuel PLACE payout will win the tie; if a tie still remains, then (e) the entry(s) with the most number of SHOW (third place finishers that did not Win or Place) horses selected will win the tie; if a tie still remains, then (f) the winning entry(s) will be determined by a random draw among eligible entries. Note that (f) random draw, may only come into play involving entries to on-track events or other prizes whose value cannot be divided. A playoff option between those players involved in the tie may be offered per management discretion.
If in FEEDER or REAL MONEY contests there are ties remaining after all tiebreakers (through tiebreaker (e), show positions) have been applied, the value of the prizes involved will be equally split among those players tied for the position(s).
For any contest, if all players end with zero at the conclusion of the contest, tiebreakers will not be applied and all players will be refunded the entry fee.
Tiebreakers are NOT applied in SURVIVOR format contests, or to EXACTA BOX format contests.

Congrats Tony good handicapping and tough beat at the wire.
I almost posted here about the bomb Field Officer's trainer. I don't think I've ever seen a worse set of stats with so many starters. Close to 500 starts hitting at 1%. must have some forgiving owners...

nice run dell. that last race was tough. I was live to a huge double with the 5 who had to check briefly on the turn, may have cost him the race. also nice to see Bev on the leaderboard.

Finished DFL today but unbelievably if I had gone with my alternates I would have been first easily.
If there were a sympathy in choice, War, death, or sickness, did lay siege to it, Making it momentary as a sound, Swift as a shadow, short as any dream, Brief as the lightning in the collied night That, in a spleen, unfolds both heaven and earth, And ere a man hath power to say 'Behold!' The jaws of darkness do devour it up; So quick bright things come to confusion.

Most literate quote about losing at a game of chance...my quotes about losing are generally more pedestrian...usually something like 'dammit' or 'f'ing hell'.
