Where to start. Long ago I was a district manager for Pepsi. Cool job. Got to meet Ray Charles in Dallas. Was allowed to buy stock in Pepsico. I bought 1 share. As a sign of protest, I am ripping up that share. I know nobody cares but it's my way of pretesting Pepsi sponsoring what I believe will be the most unpopular halftime show for anyone over 30 years old! Pathetic! I would guess this group of losers had more indictments than the years the Super Bowl has been around! This has to be addressed by someone with the power to cancel this obscene display.
Whoever is still around from the Beach Boys would be better. What about Alice Cooper? We know he knows how to put on a show!

Does anyone still watch commercials?
NBCUniversal has recently sold 30-second ads for Super Bowl LVI for a record $6.5 million, and has nearly sold out advertising slots for the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, a company executive said on Wednesday.

Age is relative.
Happened to mention the announced line up to my 14 year old son.
His comment...aren't all these musicians over 50? Turns out he was pretty much right.
So, Spanky thinks they are all too young while my 14 year old thinks they are all too old.
I'm guessing the NFL and Pepsi would prefer a 14 year old customer rather than a 65 year old customer. Just saying.

Ratings in adults 18-49 have declined in seven straight years, and viewership has declined in eight. Earlier this decade, the game scored as high as 40.5 in 2012 and 52.5 million in 2011.
Adults 18-49 made up just under 41% of the CBS TV audience of 98.2 million. Since 2008, when the demo accounted for fully half of the TV audience, it has accounted for a smaller and smaller percentage each year.

I am trying to think of the last time the Super Bowl half time act was an artist(s) who was up and coming or clearly in their prime- Prince maybe, although even he may have been a bit past his peak commercially. U2 (who was great by the way) was still a bit past their peak. In other cases it was stark-McCartney, the Stones, Madonna, all time performers but not really relevant to the younger generations when they performed halftime.
I'm Ok with it, it gives me a chance to take a true half time break.

I agree with Tonyโs son . They tried to get Eminem in 2014 so I guess the money was right this time . Btw I enjoyed The Weeknd last year !

I wonder how much half-time smoke Snoop will generate?

The Weekend? LMFAO Now that's funny. I don't remember what or who The Weekend was or is but I doubt their career has skyrocketed. Prince was awesome. Even Aerosmith was good. How about Metallica? Enter Sandman would get the crowd cranked no matter what the age group IMO. Snoop and Dr. Dre were the creators of NWA right?

Aerosmith and Metallica - not sure the stadium would have enough wheelchair handlers ๐

Walk This way was released in 1975- 46 years ago.
Enter Sandman was released in 1991 -30 years ago.
I love classic rock but unless they're going to use holograms featuring the groups in their prime, that isn't going to capture much of an audience.

I agree that Prince was one of the better Super Bowl performances. Even in his case though, he was no longer charting in 2007 when he performed. His last top 20 had come 12 years earlier in 1995," I hate You" which peaked at #12 on the pop chart and #3 on the R & B chart. From 1996-to his Super Bowl in 2007, he had exactly 1 top 40 song and that was a re-release of "1999" in 1998. His popular peak was from about 1982-1991.
It feels like the Super Bowl entertainment has never been cutting edge at the time, and again that's Ok, but it's why I never to get too worked up about who the headliner is going to be.
Maybe Bev is right that The Weekend makes sense. I'll be out walking my dog at halftime in any case.

My actual favorite performance in recent times was Bruno Mars - it was out of this world .

I'm guessing Taylor Swift is the only singer that could move the needle substantially. Since Pepsi produces the halftime show and she is a Coke spokesperson that is a non starter.

You were there to see Prince Bev? I am jealous. I consider Prince to be one of the best musicians in my lifetime. What a career he had. Came out of Minnesota and churned out hit after hit. Oddly enough (or maybe it's not that odd) but Prince and Tom Petty were lost to overdosing on drugs at their peaks. Wasn't it Fentanyl? Maybe before it was known that drug was X times more deadly than heroin. The Michael Jackson case comes to mind. While he was never an A-list performer, I always respected Ted Nuggent as anti-drug. Saw him in Dallas and he was by far the LOUDEST guitar player I ever saw. It was summer and was so hot that day the fire department was brought in to shoot water over the crowd to cool people off!
Snoop Dog was a murdering gang member as I recall. Like shoes, I'll be preparing snacks for the second half or cleaning out a closet but I will look forward to the halftime commercials. They have become nearly was popular as the halftime show. Bruno who?

Let me nip my comment to Mr. Hendry as talking politics in the bud. If I was out of line, I apologize. No desire to start a political pissing match on this. My mistake. Stain on me.
