Race 5 is the two-turn, 9F dirt race that they run every year for 2yos. A couple of interesting horses/pedigrees in here. Maker brings Dumi Knife in from IND, but has no shot against these, IMO. Sisterson/Calumet put Saez up, first start OTT at ELP is a key race with 2nd and 3rd place finishers coming back to win, but he was a distant, fading fifth so no dice for me. Imminent Storm goes second out for Shug, not a typical Phipps-looking pedigree, but second dam is Storm Flag Flying, and if you can't get A.P. Indy, you go to Flatter. Seven furlongs first out was probably too short, gets blinkers today, goes two-turns first time which Shug is very good at, and even though Rosario is usually thought of as one of the best finishers around, he can ride the front end too. Lots to like here. Rattle N Roll ran third to Gunite in first start at CD, only one in that field of twelve that was able to pass horses over a glib, speed favoring surface. Gunite came back to run second in the Saratoga Special. McPeek had a rough start to the meet with the barn quarantine, but showing signs of life now. Using. I wanted to just toss Commander Compton off the bad first race, but Bauer is having a good meet, Irad gets aboard, turf-to-dirt numbers are excellent for the trainer. On the fence, but Forestry on the dam side just says no for 9F dirt. Dowagiac Chief ran sixth in the Gunite MSW, then battled all the way around going two-turns on grass here last month. Amoss barn is humming along, Dylan Davis is making the most of his mounts, must use for me. Unbridled Bomber was the only other horse I wrote 'NO' next to its name, so it will promptly win by five. Pletcher has Keepcalmcarryon for the Lows, ran second to stablemate Wit in first start, that one won the Sanford S. by eight and could be any kind. Stretched to 7F, Kcco ran into Stellar Tap which gave Asmussen his training record. Still closed nicely for runner up again. Has the best numbers in the race, post position is the only negative.

Race 6 Jazz Time Girl seems beautifully bred for short on the grass, dam was a multiple SW on the turf. Maker/Three Diamonds/Irad. Price likely shortens. The Club has shown her hand, you'd think they would try her going two turns for the third start, but maybe she's just better sprinting. Using. Shared Future ultimately smells like 7F dirt/8F turf to me. I like Twirling Candy as a turf sire, but every one I bet on turns out to like dirt better. Mixed signals. Mischievous Kiss is out of SW Kiss The Devil, who has produced two turf-stakes-winning foals. Oh, BTW, Kiss the Devil was born in 1998! First foal was in 2005. Sired by Kris S. (1977!) Don't see that name close up in pedigrees anymore. Not often that an aged mare keeps producing high level horses, but maybe Into Mischief can bring something to the table.
