UK & IRE- follow along on Dell's video feed above (thanks, Dell!) Yarmouth 10:00am EDT- 7f Handicap (Class 4) (3yo+ 0-80) 8 runners. Many of these are either best on AW courses, professional maidens, or off form. #3- Dashing Dick (3-1) has the best form and numbers in here, and 7F on good ground is his thing. Career turf record 9/1-3-3, but he's handled this class level previously which will go a long ways today. #1- Farhh to Shy (5-2) is a 3yo filly which is unexposed after three starts (3/1-1-0), but goes first time in a handicap today and gets top weight, would need a good bit of improvement to take this down. Jockey Tom Queally (of Frankel fame) has the ride, checking his stats he's really fallen out of favor over the last five years, with less mounts each season and a modest win %, not sure of the reason for that. EX- 3/1,2 Result: 1,2,7 Farhh to Shy ($7.60) handled the weight and stretchout with aplomb, winning easily and suggesting there is more to come. Dashing Dick disputed the pace, ran on but never looked like the winner.More... TW

Musselburgh 11:25am EDT- 1m4½f Handicap (Class 4) (4yo+ 0-80) 8 runners, turf = GOOD. #1- Beechwood Jude (5-1) 5yo hasn't seen a race course since November, but won on reappearance last year. Prefers soft ground, but willing to chance the good-to-soft ground and get a big price. #4- Greengage (7-2) has terrific form this season, 6yo mare fits nicely at this level, likes good going and gets her jockey back today. EX- 1,4/1,2,4,5,6 Result: 7,2,5 Emaraty Hero ($6.20) took all the money and it was well-meant as he won off easily, after being on the shelf since November. Trainer Grant Tuer, and especially jockey Sam James, are going really well right now, with the latter riding for Tuer and also Keith Dalgleish to great effect this season, make a note. Greengage showed nothing today, clearly entering a down form cycle. Beechwood Jude (Dalgleish) ran well to be fourth, can be bet back over soft-heavy ground this fall. Right into stable watch.

Newbury 12:45pm EDT- 1m (Str) Handicap (Class 2) (3yo+ 0-100) 11 runners, going = GOOD. Looks like a nice prep for next month's rich Cambridgeshire Handicap (9F, Newmarket Rowley Course, straight) on September 25th. Some of these are probably just getting a prep race, as they are rated high enough to be safely in the Cambrigeshire if they choose to enter. Others may need to win/run very well to boost their official rating. Some are just trying to win today. #5- Turn on the Charm (6-1) is a consistent sort, has improved as a 4yo, trying for the win either way. #7- Bear Force One (15-1) has run moderately well against better horses this season, has a win over the course, good ground is okay. Hard not to notice the presence of one Ryan Moore in the irons today, who is 6 for 19 (32%) riding for trainer Teal. Just seems like they are turning up the heat today, looking for a big run. EX- 5,7/2,3,4,5,7,10,12 Result: 7,10,9 Exacta $158.70 Ryan Moore set a tepid pace aboard Bear Force One ($32.80) in the near-side group and had enough left to hold off the cavalry. Got an 8-1 for second and a very nice exacta, sweet! Turn on the Charm was running on late, couldn't sustain his bid, just got nipped for third place. ALL the money came in on Troll Peninsula (even money) which is clearly a talented horse, but just as clearly has some physical issues. He dwelt at the start, rider didn't ask him much at any point, finished last.TW

Bellewstown 1:55pm EDT- 5f Handicap (3yo+ 50-85)
#3- That's Mad (5-1) won here two back at this distance, then ran well against premier handicappers at Cork while not up to that level. Drops back into a winning spot. Using with confidence, and hoping any part of that 5-1 m/l holds with Kevin Manning aboard. EX- 3/1,2,4,8 Result: 3,2,4 Exacta $31.80 Heads-up ride by Kevin Manning aboard That's Mad ($9.80) from his wide draw, eased his horse in behind the front runners, then tipped back out to close with a rush and just get there in time. If you read the physical description of the course from Mick Kinane above, the reality looked even more challenging. Having a horse that had negotiated it and won was clearly a plus, the crushed stone road crossing close to the finish could definitely spook a first-timer.TW
